ie9 Crashes

I use Mycolors (AlienGUIse) from Dell. I recently installed ie9 and it
continually crashes on certain pages. Microsoft is telling me it is a known
issue with WindowBlinds and I need to install an update to fix it. I've
searched stardock's website and I think Mycolors is no longer available.
Windowblinds doesn’t seem to have any updates available.

I've searched the forums and see posts referring to the problem but dont see any
updates.

I've searched Dell's website and cannot find anything in regards to an update.

Can someone point me to an update or a fix for this?

I like the theme and would like to keep using it.

I know at least 3 people, one being my mother, that had crashing issues on some sites with IE9. 2 on Vista, one on Win7.  None of them have WindowBlinds. The fix?   Roll back to IE8 until MS gets their act together.

Using IE 9 on Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit with no problems.  It sounds like a compatibility issue with the site.  What are the sites that are crashing?

@  Philly. There were several on my mom's (Vista), I don't remember all of them but Pogo was one she complained about the most. The  Win7 rig? FB Farmville. How does MS expect people to do without access to these critical sites?o_O

Oh. well I don't mess with Facebook other to check in once a week and see if Stardock/WinCutomize has made any annoucements or such.  Never heard of Pogo.  I wonder if using the Compatibility View option would clearn things up for those sites.  :S

It didn't help in any of them. I tried that before rolling back.

Are you able to contact the sites and see if there is a known compatibility problem with IE 9?

My reasoning is that if the site is compatible with IE 8 now was it not in the past and folks had to use IE 7?  Could it be that these and other sites are just slow to update/upgrade?

Run/ iexplore.exe  -extoff

If sites load correctly:

Manage Add-ons/ Toolbars and Extensions/ All add-ons. Highlight any add-on. CTRL + A. Disable all.

Enable them one at a time until it crashes.

If I had to guess (and I do), it's: http://www.java.com/en/

I'd say that's  most likely a damn good guess. Pogo is a Java heavy site. I keep it updated on my mom's rig so I know it had the latest version., maybe it was a bit behind the IE9 ball.:S

@ Philly:IIRC, Pogo is owned by EA Games. Ever try to get support from them? They update when they get damn good and ready. Not once did they respond to e-mails about problems she's had with the site and she's been a paying member for years.

As long as she's happy with IE8, I'm leaving it for now. I can't afford many 50 mile road trips when mom can't play Pogo and get her badges.:waaaa:

i also had some problems with java and still do, but it got better when i downgraded from 64 version to the 32 bit version.
But still java just freezes it always makes me wonder is java the nly program capable of doing the required job

Look there is an easier way of fixing the IE9 crash with stardocks mycolors AlienGUIse. Run/ mycolors program -->settings --> under exclusions click on ADD --> goto C:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe (add iexplore.exe) to the exclusions.  This will prevent mycolors from running with IE9. I dont know if stardocks have come out with a patch for mycolors, I havent found one.  It is just easier to exclude it. You can also just hold down the CTRL key and launch the aplication will temorarly prevent the mycolor add on.
