Pay to play or do I misunderstand?

Given the timing of the Rebellion announcement alongside news of the upcoming "free to play" options added to Impulse Reactor, we asked if this next Sins would be a free-to-play title. "Definitely not," Clair said, though pricing has not been set.

No. It'll be free to play online. F2P is a model where you don't pay anything for the game itself, but instead pay for some features of the game to be unlocked.

I'm calling a misunderstanding. From what I can tell, I'd guess the question was interpreted as "Will Sins be a free game?" and of course, it will not be. The confusion prolly comes from the references to MMO games previously in the article, and their free to play and pay to play options.

If you have to pay to play it in online multiplayer, that would kill the game.  I doubt they're gonna do that.  As far as I know the only thing you have to pay for is $30 or $40 to buy Rebellion itself.  I think they're smart enough not to end the ability for people to add custom content or to charge for every little patch.

You won't have to pay to play Rebellion online, outside the initial cost of ownership. :P
