Like most asian tech companies they have continuously over-used the "if u cant beat em, copy em" strategy for years. Frankly speaking these days u can buy an iphone thats not an apple Ios software device.

I love to see them squirm and now there saying they are willing to talk to apple after dirty play. Bare in mind the Iphone had the first multi-touch phone and design years ahead of its competitors and improved upon it.

Apple devices feature technology that every tech industry can acquire and make, such as flash memory etc. Its uniqueness is the design (multi-touch interface and gestures, sensors and how it ans the software work which have been copied, spammed and renamed).

I don't want to jump to conclusions here, but you are coming off sounding like an Apple fanboy (not a surprise given your username). I dislike their business strategy and models, even if they are American, and honestly in the tech industry copying is pretty much the norm. I mean I don't have any love for HTC either, but I really fail to see why any big corporation deserves the slightest affection.

Its tech biz, first come, first serv... Besides i u r generalizing the patent then that's not how it works. The problem is over 50% of the patent is copied and key features and designs are implemented into the htc phones. These days if u come up with a new idea u patent it. In this case apple did since it was first. I remember clearly watching a movie regarding windscreen wipers and that design was patented. You can't deny intellectual property belongs to someone who serves the patent first.

That patent is very detailed from a technology design perspective and the difficulty is in achieving every step with technology without copying the other.

Patents can be sold and bought. That is the sad reality but it offers companies who create technologies then go bankrupt to reap the benefits through sales and licensing from the new owner. This way intellectual properties drive the force to innovate and make a buck from just the idea. Patents is a product that companies produce , license, sell and demand retribution for being infringed. Its a source of income.

Specialist are dragged from the industries by the law to investigate and tear down HTC and apple phones to the bone and conclude upon what they see. Officially apple filed that 10 patents were infringed. HTC only infringed 2 as was concluded by the techys report and judge.

If samsung was asked to design a product without the patent it could not do it without copying apple. Period. E.g the Magic mouse: Anyone who puts a multi-touch on a mouse is gona get sued for just the design. Don't matter if the multi-touch uses different tech from apple.
