DELETE THIS POST it is Obsolete Question on Star rating ?

I"m curious as to

when the Moderator give a Wallpaper a low stars rate and it's sent to your Personal page,

1) can it be brought out to the Public when it hits the star rate requirement?

2) and if so or not, what is the minimum Star rate to be in public View?

is it 2 and half Stars ? which is really 5?

Just curious

I know its not answering your question but I don't get the whole rating thing anyway. My last 2 screenshots were given a 5 rating and I had previous shots not as nice that were given higher ratings. I just have to keep reminding myself that I am not doing it for high ratings and if a mod does not like it then there is nothing I can do about it.

No. If a submission has been sent to a users Personal Page then it stays there, regardless of rating. It is impossible to keep check on every single piece to check on ratings all the time.

There are no minimum requirement as such. In theory a 5 star-rated piece -could- be sent to the users Personal Page, in theory.
Wether or not a wallpaper makes it into the public gallery depends on the votes it gets from the mods.

Making it to Journeyman/Master userlevel will bypass moderation, putting the submissions straight into the public gallery, as your level of talent as been deemed high enough (So to speak)
Some artist does however seem to see this as a 'pillow of security' and start pumping out way shaite wallpapers, but remember, as well as getting promoted for good quality work, one can get demoted again for lowering the quality too much. This happens, in my opinion, not often enough.

It's never 1 Moderator, DC. Walls, etc. are voted on by more than one.

couldn't someone write a code to do that? and if so maybe we could get the submission updated to like

lets say a WP went to your PP (Personal Page) and over time with some giving stars and you get lets say 6 or you hit lets say 100 DL's maybe then it could

go to PV (Public View) it's just a thought

but thanks for the info that is what I was wanting to know ....

That is quite possible, but as it is a none essential feature so it propably wouldn't delt with in this century.
Besides that, there is a reason why we choose to send certains wallpapers to your personal pages - too low quality.
Higher ratings doesn't raise the quality of any submission.

Instead of looking at it as a kick in the balls, look at it as a goal to strive for instead, and improve your skills.

Correct. Horses and wagons.

If a Wall [or anything else] is deemed appropriate by the Moderators to go to your personal page then nothing will change that other than a rework 'improvement' of the submission.

If it were simply a case of the Mods rating it a '1' and sending it to PP and the artist getting all his mates to bump it up to '10' and have it relocate to public gallery I think everyone can see the flaw in the process.  The work didn't 'get better', only its rating....;)

Sure it would be nice to be promoted but I would probably keep trying to get better whatever the ratings say. I usually do it to please myself anyway.

me too. but I did encounter something that might be interesting. In my recent post where I inappropriately linked some wallpapers that had been regulated to my personal page, I got some hits. Once the links were removed there was almost none.

Possible conclusion is that if anything is regulated to your personal page, people won't see them.

Personally, I post to share, if things are regulated to the netherworld, what is the point of leaving them on my personal page.

I'd like to see another option on submittals, 'if rejected, do NOT put on my personal page'.

Why? Little bit of constructive criticism is a good thing as opposed to de-structive criticism which can lead to you going for the broom and dust pan to clean up the mess you made after smacking your 'puter with a hammer. :-"

If you wish you can always post in the description 'reject if not accepted to General gallery'.

The reason you may have seen 'greater' downloads via links on the forum is simply plain curiosity..."what is this fuss all about?"

Personal Pages are still publicly accessible.

If anyone 'needs' all his/her works to be front-and-center on a website he she is most welcome to create one to do so....:)

sounds good, thanks

You can always put a link to your gallery in the description of your uploads.

That way you will get some traffic to the ones that went to your personal pages from the ones that do make it to the public gallery.
