Watch Mode? Is there one? Pls help

Hi, I just want to "watch" battles in game. Is there an easy way to do this? Or maybe a mod for this?  I don't rly feel like "playing/managing the game" anymore, but I love sitting back and just watching the massive space battles.

Thanks is advance!

Well in the developer .exe, there are several features that could allow you to do this easily, including the ability to spawn ships at will, make ship indestructible (but still fire at each other) and prevent ships from leaving the gravity well. Sadly there are not many in depth guides available, so just play with it and ask if you have any specific questions. All of the functions I mentioned should be in the change galaxy menu.

hhehehaha ya. My favourite was Spawning the Abadon from eve and watching it desimate an entire TEC fleet. I made it with about 20 of the KOLs heavy guns (8 0r 10 each side) and unlimited antimatter.  }:)

With the DEV.exe you can also switch your player to the AI and let the game play out. You can also watch recorded games. I am sure the MP community has some good recorded games to DL and watch.

thx for the responses! so there is no other way like a mod? or a command in game?

so how do you get the dev.exe?

do you mean this >  Sins of a Solar Empire Dev?  when i run that it wants me to put in my serial #.

I moved like 2 times in the past 2 years. I have like no clue where that is anymore (or for any of my games in fact. i think the only serial # i kept was for COD4) :(

Is that the dev.exe you're talking about?

Hmm, what version of Sins do you have? My developer has certainly never asked me for a serial number. Yes it should be called Sins of a Solar Empire [Entrenchment/Diplomacy] Dev.exe. If you registered the game with Impulse you can find your serial number their, otherwise you may need to contact support.

If you get it working, here's a guide I'm writing with all of its features.

Once you bring up the main menu, hit A (Change Galaxy), D (Change Player), then B (Change active player isAI). This will set an AI to control your faction, and while you can still issue orders if you want, you can just watch it if you like. Check out that guide I linked for other features that might help you enjoy watching the game more.

Awesome thx GoaFan77...i tried it out and it works!

Couple of questions....

1) How do you track where there are battles happening? The AI builds a huge army sends them off in all directions and then i  totally lose whats going on where. Is there a quick way to zoom in where there are active battles happening?

2) Also what is the command to follow an individual ship? I bound one but it doesnt seem to work to good...unless thats just the game itself? like i hit the zoom in key it will "kinda" zoom in on the unit and then i "scroll" close to really see the unit. Its the like the camera kinda "misses" the best view to watch the unit?

3) How can you add a 3rd AI player? I'd like to watch 3 AI's all battle it out :)

Thanks!

Hover the mouse over the bars just to the right of a gravity well (when zoomed out). If you see large numbers of ships from multiple factions, it's very likely that a battle is happening there.

Also, from what I've seen from the AI, they rarely split their fleet into more than 2 groups... it shouldn't be hard to keep track of.

What exactly's the problem? Double click on a unit to focus on it, and use the scroll wheel to adjust zoom if they z/x/c zoom keys aren't precise enough for what you want.

Pick a medium universe instead of a small one. You'll be able to have up to 4 players. Larger settings can support even larger numbers of players (or AI).
