5 things you wish to see in Rebellion

Just list 5 things you want to see in upcoming SoSE expansion. I will sum all suggestions in main post, including luding number of people supporting  Rules:

1. Only one list/person, no more then 5 suggestions

2. Do not list things already announced by Ironclad (Titans, subfactions), unless you want to add extra features to these items (like "please make titans mobile factories")

3. Before you write something new, make sure there is nothing very similar to your idea already on list (like writing "more vasari upgrades please" when "more upgrades to all factions" already exist)

Ok, let's start:

1. More types of planets/gravity wells                                                                                                         [3 votes]

2. New upgrade(s) on each of 4 already existing  tech trees of every race (including deadlier tech)                  [3 votes]

3. Better unit and faction balance across all stages of game                                                                        [3 votes]

4. Capships max experience level increased                                                                                               [3 votes]

5. Lategame Lag reduction                                                                                                                       [2 votes]

6. Multiplayer support (better ranking system, in-game voting, anti-smurf etc.) and fixes (minudumbs, lags)    [4 votes]

7. Maps/Mods autodownload [including forge-made maps]                                                                          [3 votes]

8. Better and improved Forge and Map Designer                                                                                         [1 vote]

9. Better, less exploitable AI                                                                                                                    [4 votes]

10. Capturing/salvaging of enemy capitals                                                                                               [3 votes]

11. Way of relocating TEC/Advent Starbase in gravity well                                                                            [2 votes]

12. Improved and deadlier superweapons                                                                                                  [1 vote]

13. Fixes to Empire Tree                                                                                                                        [1 vote]

14. Terraforming, moons and other planets system improvements                                                                [1 vote]

15. Improved role of neutral systems and pirates                                                                                     [1 vote]

16. Cloaking fields                                                                                                                                 [2 votes]

17. Naming fleets and longer ships/planets names                                                                                   [1 vote]

18. Ability to queue structure while other structure is being scuttled to give free slots                                    [1 vote]

19. Non-capital ships able to level-up by gaining experience (at last few levels)                                          [1 vote]

Bettler player ranking system.

In game voting system.  (these two things might be: Basic multiplayer support.)

1- Vote for more Planets/Gravity Wells. More planets, planet bonuses, gravity wells and gravity well effects. I would love to see effects like accuracy reductions (which we have limited), antimatter degen/regen, shield degen/regen, ability disable, ship speed decrease/increase due to dense/light gravity, certain weapons non operable/disrupted due to ionized space, unstable gas pockets that could explode if fired through, etc etc. This could really help introduce some additional dynamics.

2- Ability/Mechanic to capture/salvage destroyed enemy Cap ships- Possible Titan Ability?

3- Ability to use Constructor ships to tug Starbase to new position (In-Grav Well only and could limit to outside of combat only), This would be useful on chokehold locations as the strategic situation changes and you maybe need to defend a different phase lane.

4- Maybe I am channeling too much of my old school RTS love but can we please fix/balance and have real Super-weapons. These are supposed to be Epic Awe Inspiring tools of chaos and destruction. Instead we have a Friendship Cannon, the Eco Nerf Cannon and the Tele-porter Cannon. I would be perfectly content having a single super-weapon limit while at the same time it being a TRUE super-weapon with upgradeable effects. Could be something as follows:

Novalith Cannon

  1. Bombards Planets from Interstellar Distance, Planet Health Reduced by 3500, Planet is irradiated preventing regeneration of planet health and ceasing all Tax income from the Planet.
  2. Planet Health reduction increased to 6000. Planet is radioactive preventing colonization for XXX seconds. All Enemy Ships and Structures in Grav Well suffer 500 Damage upon impact and suffer 30 Damage per second and -3 Armor & -5% Shield Mitigation for 30 Seconds. Debuff applies to enemy ships that move into Grav Well after impact.

Kostura Cannon

  1. Bombards Grav Well from Interstellar Distance, All structure activities cease for 3 minutes. All Structures take 500 Damage and ships take 250 damage. Enemy Ship abilities disabled for 15 seconds.
  2. Structure and ship damage increased to 1000 and 500 respectively. Enemy Ship weapons now disabled for 15 seconds. Enemy Antimatter is degenerated at 2.5/sec for 30 seconds. Grav Well becomes Phase Stabiliser and all friendly ship movement in Grav Well increased by 50%. Enemy Ships phase jumping to this Grav Well have 100% increased charge up.

Deliverance Engine

  1. Bombard Planet from Interstellar Distance, Causes immediate loss of 15% Allegiance to planet, -3.5 Culture, +10% Damage for Friendly ships and causes 5 Random Enemy ships to be dominated by the power of the Unity and defect to the Advent.
  2. Increases Allegiance loss to 25%, Culture rate loss to -5, +20% damage for Friendly Ships for 15 seconds and causes 10 random enemy ships to defect. Also increases friendly Shield Mitigation by 5% for 30 seconds.

These changes would make these TRULY a viable super-weapon. For balance I would say put Kostura in the phase missile research line so that all of them have roughly comparable research costs. I've tried to model my effects around the lore and likely technology of each race TEC=Economic/Radiation, Vas=Military/Space Manipulation, Advent=Culture/Mind Manipulation. In return for these changes I would say there would be a hard limit to the buildable # of sups and of course they are already quite expensive.

5-If I get all of the above, I would feel greedy asking for more but better AI, both for playing against and when controlling your ships/abilities, is always a plus.

What I'd like to see in Rebellion, in no particular order:

1. Eliminate lag in online multiplayer.

2. Eliminate minidumps and desyncs.

3. Allow auto-download for Galaxy Forge-made maps.

4. Fix the Empire tree.

5. Most importantly, don't screw up the game and when it is released it should be very polished.

6. This isn't really in Ironclad's control, but hopefully we'll see hundreds and preferably thousands of new people log onto Ironclad Online to play PvP games.

I could probably think of numerous other items.  I know I listed more than 5 things, but hey, it's my post.

[Some of these are a bit wild, perhaps even impractical, but honestly they would be cool.]

1- Terraforming (Make your own planets terran/desert, and your opponents volcanic.

2 - More robust neutral & pirate presence (This is not so much about their strength or weakness, as having NPCs do more than just one thing.  Make it possible to make more deals with them).

3- Moons, and fun stuff to go with them.

4- Cloaking.

5- The ability to start games as custom fleets without a HW (Can this be done in galaxy forge?).  There should simply be changes that allow for a more "nomadic" style of play (Starbase phase jumps?).

1. Fix player rank system (no smurfs). People should know who they are playing against.

2. Auto download of galaxy forge maps.

3. Balance faction support ships so ALL are useful.

4. Add higher levels and more useful techs to the tech trees. A higher tech military should be able to hold against a spam-a-lot.

5. Balance capital ship damage and abilities. Battleships should be the highest DPS ships of the Capship class, not the Carriers. All factions should have more synergy, like the Advent already have.

Update!

I don't want to make 9000 different wishes list, so I've connected some of suggestions into one suggestion. I've also added some things into already existing categories (like specific ships balance into general balance). I've also ignored some obvious suggestions ["don't screw up game" ;)]

Next update tommorow :)

1. More types of planets/gravity wells

11. Way of relocating TEC/Advent Starbase in gravity well

10. Capturing/salvaging of enemy capitals

16. Cloaking fields

New suggestion:

- allow longer ship/station/planet names, allow players to also name fleets

Here's something I just thought of that has bothered me for a long time.  I'd like to improve some of the queuing functions.  For example--when I order a structure (say a trade port) scuttled--I'd like to be able to queue up the building of the structure (say a military lab) that replaces it.  It's real annoying and tedious to have to zoom in, order the scuttle, zoom out, go do something else and hope you remember that a logistics slot is going to open up at a certain planet, then zoom out of where you're at, zoom in at that planet and issue the build order.

Also, when you have lost a lab (say a civic lab) and you want to build a structure that requires that lab and you have a replacement building, I'd like to be able to queue up the build orders for them.

Maybe this doesn't belong in the thread and I'm gonna make a separate thread for it, but it's something I'd like to see in Rebellion.  Actually, I'd like to see it in the next Diplomacy patch.

things i wouldn't mind seeing, already on the list would be:

3. Better unit and faction balance across all stages of game

4. Capships max experience level increased

9. Better, less exploitable AI

6. Multiplayer support (better ranking system, in-game voting etc.) and fixes (minudumbs, lags etc.)

and something that wasn't mentioned;

-veteran status for normal ships. after enough experience, say 50-100(1-2 exp for each ship destroyed in the grav well), normal ships can "rank" once or twice. giving something simple like 100 extra shield points for one advancement and +1 damage for the other or something along those lines. nothing to throw the game off balance, but something to show your enemies that your fleet has stood the test of time.

I am for Fixes for Empire tree so it doesn't move all the time, so that we can actually select items that we want to change.

In terms of AI, I am all for it however, I would also like to see better AI in the way it does pathfinding and stuff like that instead of harder or smarter AI

I agree with above. A fix to the empire tree to stop it jumping would be great.

A means of capturing colonies via culture.

A means of capturing vice exterminating enemy colonies other than culture.

A diplomatc tech series that penalizes or rewards a faction for capturing vice exterminating a colony,

An ability to capture enemy tech (where compatible) when capturing a world via conquest.

Some rudimentary tactical options/orders in lieu of the pause and slug it out the CPU defaults to.

1. Make it so the AI can make alliances with itself. The best I've ever seen the AI do so far is make a cease-fire with itself. And that happened once. Long single-player games are too easy right now, because all the AI players want to ally with you. This is my single biggest pet-peeve with this game right now.

2. Cloaking/ some element of stealth. I think that each race should get some kind of cloaked cruiser that you could research later on. They would be really expensive, have little hp, but would pack a punch versus structures/economic units. An upgrade for the scout ships would allow the cloaked units to be detected, or sensor towers could be built that could detect them.

3. General tactical orders at the fleet level. The easiest to implement would be target prioritization. You could tell a particular fleet to target a particular ship type first when given the opportunity. The choices might be "no priority, combat units, support craft, or capital ships." The fleet AI would then have a higher chance of auto-targeting these ships when in combat depending on the range of the target. This would work similarly to how the militia AI hates colony frigates (but not as extreme perhaps).

4. Additional planet and capital ship names (I've seen the old ones WAY too many times haha). Perhaps make it possible to make custom name lists for capital ships. Whenever you would build a capital ship, it would randomly choose a name from your name list (your opponents would use the standard lists).

5. I really like Gamerlamb's suggestion with the superweapons. In order for superweapons to really do anything at the moment- you need like seven. I would like it where a superweapon was just that: a superweapon. Limit a player to one each.

I HAVE TWO

VERY INTERESTING

SUGGESTIONS

Uno : Diplomacy ratings for Titans

         {Specifically, if your race builds a Titan while in good Diplomatic standing with another: then the costs and resources used to maintain that ship will be burdened by the friendly's (s) in return for protection from enemies}

         {Addendum : limits on the number of Titans any one empire can posses by sheer logistics of crew compliment}

Duce : Special planets that can be built to protect planetary systems from Titan attacks

Or, special weapons platforms that could disable Titans through a combination of derailing the Titan's computer systems and affecting the crew, or some other means of stalling a big onslaught.

Events.

I'm hoping the trigger action in the updated Galaxyforge will allow this. But how about something like a group of planets join together and form a new AI due to other faction incursions,

Stockmarket Lets you buy and sell shares in goods, and or loan resources or money to other factions with interest paid back...much like selling government bonds.

More variances in resources. Let some places be rich and some be poor. Also new resources.

Not likely, but new station types. Much like capital ships, new stations could be trade, diplomacy resource gathering, or the current (combat) related.

Planetary Governors. These would have various abilities that would affect the planet's resources, combat capability, and manufacturing, as well as loyalty and culture. You only get a limited number of governors, and ones on the frnge might decide to start their own empire...

Manufacturing trade ships: Sure you've got the trade stations, but if you want lots of trade, you ned to make more trade stations, and determoine what they're carrying (ie give them routes) Passengers, goods, resources,

Trade regulation. Free trade gives you better results, but it also makes th e black market and piracy flourish...how will you treat trade in your empire.

1. Create a Home-world council that would issue missions to you in the same way another faction would. However here, the quests asked would rather be: fortify a specific planet, engage diplomacy with another faction, capture a neighboring planet, build specify civilian structures or complete certain research (mostly low utility research) etc. Rewards for completing such missions could be increased allegiance or in the form of resources. I think this would spice up the game which lacks a campaign. – The council could be found in the diplomacy screen together with the ranking tab.

2. This one has already been proposed on the forum but not on this tread, can't recall who proposed it. Be able to flag gravity wells so that ships will ignore it as a possible path unless no other route exists or the unit has been ordered to go there. This is specially useful to prevent scouts and trade ships from going through an already discovered pirate base, or a heavily fortified enemy base.

3. Bigger planets!!!

4. The AI should consider your diplomatic relationship with other factions so that it does not constantly ask you to attack your own ally. It should be able to consider at least a cease fire with you if you both have the same ally.

5. Allow you to have more strategic and tactical possibilities on battles. For example allow you to set prioritized targets for your fleet or even better for each class of ship. Allow you to set heavily damaged ships to automatically retreat to another gravity well. More importantly, support ships and long ranged vessels should not exposed themselves to enemy fire as easily as they do now.

Please excuse my English, it's not my mother-tongue. Thanks for reading.

auto-docking for strike craft.

structures with anti-strike craft defenses.

more types of stars. that have effects other then antimatter restoration.

ability to assign ships to attack certain types of ships. something like capital ship to attack heavy cruisers. bombers to attack carriers.

more passive starbase tech research.

starbases able to attack strike craft.

1. Larger area around planets.

2. Better scaling.

3. Cloaking

4. Espionage

5. Adjustable area around planets.

The space around planets is just too tight for tactical maneuvers.  :borg:

Sorry, I know it says five things I want to see in "Rebellion", but there is really only one for me at the moment.

I would like to be able to loan capital ships to my ally if he is getting hammered by his enemy and I'm able to spare them.  The way I envision this to work is that I could bring up in a diplomatic screen a list of my capital ships by name and click a "loan to ally" button and loan it to an ally of choice.  I could reserve the right to cancel the lease at anytime, or perhaps set a condition, such as a time limit.  When the lease is cancelled, or the time expires, the ship would revert back to my control.  My ally would also be able to give my ship back as well when finished.  A "renew lease" option could also be made available to loan the ship back out under previous conditions.

This could allow new players a second chance in games when defeat may otherwise be inevitable.  It could also allow players to wage wars indirectly by temporarily building up an ally's forces while they sit back and wait to take on a weakened winner.  Since your ships would revert back to your control most likely near their planets or fleet, they would immediatly be in position to attack.  This opens up sort of a covert war or surprise attack option.  Plus, can you imagine the shock of a player you have a treaty with when they recognize the name of one of your ships on their enemy's side?
