Removing Plugins from Firefox?

It seems that a lot of programs are blindly adding browser plugins these days I would like to get rid of some .

I Tunes , Nvidia , Silverlight and the such.

The information on the mozilla site is pretty much useless as far as this is concerned.

Tools -> Add-ons -> Plugins (tab)

If you updated to FF4 you can do this. Open tools at the top of your browser. If the tool bar isn't there click on the orange square upper left and enable menu bar. Once open go to add-ons, click and the add-on manager window will open in a new tab. It will list all the add-ons you have and on the far right you can disable as many or all of them. I don't know about uninstalling them yet. Hope this helps.

Thanks for trying to help I found the registry key where they are listed and it showed me where the plugins each were installed which in turn allowed me to remove them properly

Registry hacking is fun - but for FF (3.6 or 4) removing plugins is easy as others have indicated.

There was no need to go into the registry. You uninstall them the way it was shown then restart the browser. Simple.

there are remove buttons on the extensions but not on the Plugins they just have a disable button.

People are thinking about extensions not plugins.

From the mozilla site ...

If you can't use an uninstaller program to remove a plugin, you can remove it manually:

  1. In the Location bar, type about:config and press EnterReturn.

    • The about:config "This might void your warranty!" warning page may appear. Click I'll be careful, I promise!, to continue to the about:config page.
  2. Search for the preference: plugin.expose_full_path.
  3. Double-click on the plugin.expose_full_path preference in the list to change the value to true.
  4. Enter about:plugins into the Location bar to display the About Plugins page.
  5. Each entry in the About Plugins page will have "File name:" followed by a path. Use Windows Explorer to navigateNavigate to the folder shown for the plugin you want to remove.
  6. Rename the file to something other than its normal name - e.g. npswf32 becomes Xnpswf32

The plugin will be removed.
