Diplo 4v4 Normal Speeds IP Game

Looking for a group of 4 who are interested in some PvP versus my team using IP to connect (instead of ICO.) We use the following settings:

-Diplomacy 1.2

-4v4 PvP, bring your team!

-Random Huge Multi

-Ship speeds fast

-All other speeds normal

-Pirates inactive

We are available for a start time of 8:00 PM PST most nights. We are friendly and interested in learning and expanding our knowledge of advanced tactics. I realize most tactics developed through ICO are designed for all speeds fastest gameplay. Normal speeds gameplay encourages a night of fun built around a single, empire-building game instead of the finely-tuned rush tactics spread out over several games in one night that most on ICO prefer. If this interests you, please reply here or PM me with times you are available to play.

It sounds like that game would take forever to play--normal speeds on a huge random multistar and then only 4v4.  I'm guessing that it would also start to lag later on ionce everyone has 1200 fleet supply worth of ships.  You'd probably receive more interest if you wanted to play 4v4 on the huge random single star with locked teams, quickstart on, pirates off, and all fast or (preferably) faster speeds.

Have you and your buddies ever tried playing over Ironclad Online?  You'll find numerous 4v4 and 5v5 games during the European and North American evenings and especially on the weekends.  You could host a 4v4 game and make the opposing 4 slots open to anyone or see if you can find an actual clan that would want to play you.  I'm sure [DT] would be up for it.  (I think [DT] would also be up for an IP connect game, but only using the settings I suggested.)

If you want to play Multistar 4v4, at least make it the Large Random Multistar, which is actually somewhat playable, and then go with the settings I suggested.

Each to there own. Some people actually like to play for a while.

We on the DS crew do this from time to time. Yeah the game can be almost a 16 hour, 2 day marathon. But fun.

You can make a large empire fast.  In optimal settings I can hit 100 creds/sec in 30 mins and over 1000 creds/sec in less then 1:45 mins.

Either ecoing or attacking efficiency is the key

This does sound like fun but I am not sure if I can make it or not, schedule changes a lot. Usually we get five or six of us friends together and LAN sins with the DS mod on normal or slow settings, pirates inactive. Those are some fun amazing games. :-)

Good, most of you at least understand where I'm coming from. So nice to hear there are a few people out there outside my LAN circle who prefer 1 game per night instead of 5.

We also like to play DS because it seems well suited for longer games with its tech tree tweaks. We are all patched to the latest version (checksum: 73571136) and are down to play that as well although we have experienced some minidumps with the most recent version.

By "IP setup" I mean that I will PM you with an IP address and start time instead of using ICO to meet up. We will be playing this afternoon and evening. If anyone is down (boshimi? GuitarKid?) shoot me a PM.

I suggest your friends go online and setup a friend vs game.  That way people joining the game will know that you intend to play as a team

JohnJames: correct me if I'm wrong. Are you suggesting I use ICO and create a game with a title like "friend vs." If so, that wont work. Like I said in the OP - I don't use ICO.I'm one of only two on my team that even has ICO.

GuitarKid: I PM'd you.

You can go to ico and post a game title with your ip.  A way to advertise you have a game up and waiting

That's not a bad idea, actually.  Perhaps the community will get to the point where games end up getting played by direct IP connect in order to avoid ICO lag.
