Great “Guides” at MakeUseOf.com

I like learning about the programs I use because I like the feeling of being able to use them fully.

So, I discovered a series of tremendous “Guides” on makeuseof.com .

There are guides to everything from making your own gaming pc to making professional documents in Word, Photoshop (yep, he’s back talking about that), and how to use Dropbox, and an authoritative guide to Windows 7 as well as your pc inside and out.

All you have to do is “Like it” on facebook (and please start using the “https” browsing option there as well as doing it in “Chrome” which sandboxes it).

The link takes you to a place where you have to enter a long url to make tiny so I entered the link and it made it tiny with a 19y at the end then takes you to another place that says tiny url made a tiny url. o_O

Doesn't seem like you have to submit to fbook to get to this content: http://www.makeuseof.com/pages/ leads to a catalog of PDF files.

Correction: This is an fbook WTF. The links from the Pages page above just lead to blurbs that tell you you have to submit to fbook. Boo.

Yup...that sucks. Thanks anyway Doc. :S

I owe you an apology Seth....duh, I didn't read the whole OP. I had just left coffeegrinder's thread and I jumped the gun here...no harm intended.

I did, and I was momentarily pleased to think that fbook was not a requirement to check those 'guides' out. Your subject line is a bit misleading because these makeuseof.com folks do not make stuff available via their own domain. Should be "Great 'Guides' at Fbook from Folks Who Own Makeuseof.com"

You're welcome, RedneckDude.

Then read more carefully. I clearly wrote:

I don't believe I've misread (or failed to read) you at all. You are not reading me well. I am not trying to be combative. My first reply was simply because I'd mistakenly thought I found a workaround to the fbook dependency.

When you replied in a mildly hostile tone, I tried to clarify. Your subject line reads wrongly for me, given your body text and the apparent limited access for the content you're boosting.

Was installing my new Acronis, and seeing IROKONESS managed to get CS4 installed.

No biggy, Jim. All's cool in the pool. ;)

Rednecks use pools?  I thought they stuck to "swimmin' holes" because they doubled as a place to skinny dip AND catch catfish.

Well, well, well... Journeyman Karen pops in for a visit. Welcome: take off shoes and set a spell.

Turns out that they catch the catfish using mice as bait... ;)

They also get to keep their natural scent when using "swimmin holes".

Caught a pic of RnD fishing in his fave spot...and swimmin' hole, Dave. A nice keepsake.

Hey Doc...when you checked out these guides...

Do you realize that if you signed into Facebook with the account you just closed, you reactivated the account?

If they force people to use Facebook to get these guides, then I won't be using them.  Why don't they put them on a separate web-site so everyone can access them.  There's plenty of good stuff that does not *require* Facebook, and good thing too.

Best regards,
Steven.

Just make a quicky account. "Like" the Guide and then download. You don't have to keep the account...

No thank you but appreciate the thought.
