PIRATE NOTES Beta feedback

Some feedback on pirates

From what I have played thus far, I have to say I'm liking the changes thus far. The pirates do seem more easier to cope with earlier on, then gradually increase as the game progresses. To my thinking Severe seems compatible with a big raid pre-patch and they can certainly do some damage if you have your GW. lacking in defences. I have been spending alot more on bounty than I previously used to, especially as the game progresses.

Issuing pirate missions is a must now as more often than not I find myself out bidden. I like the way this is set up now, and researching this fairly early on is a good option I think. Being able to send out 2 fleets one after the other, 1 for a issued mission to them and 1 for the bounty spawned raid, can really make the pirates a very deadly later on in the game when the research is done and you have a good bit of cash built up.

I havn't seen much mention by the community on pirates yet, so I thought I'd post some feedback and get the ball rolling. I wonder if others like me don't really have anything to complain about, and that's why there has been no mention. I do wonder if others do have a similar view though.

Yea the pirate system feels pretty good to me at the moment. I have been able to defeat them with fleets of decent size with out too much problems in the early game and was tempted enough by their strength in the late game to build Novaliths to end the bastards lol The only thing I feel is slightly out is the pirate fleet levels (i.e. Elevated, Guarded, etc) seem to rise pretty swiftly even on a 1v1.

But generally they have been much easier to deal with early game and still tough later. I also saw a small pirate fleet hit one of my worlds reasonably late in a game due to the fact no one had bidded on them. So when the cash disappeared, pirate raid strength did too which was nice.

Plus you can't just use them to wipe out the AI as before.

I had a early large fleet attack me when I defeated them, here came a second fleet :(O   but it was only ship and didn't seem know what to do. It didnt attack or move just sat there. Through whole game I would get only one ship pirates every once and while.

Has anybody had a pirate attack you and then leave for unknown reason?

might that have been a pirate mission without a valid target? for example, set to target structures and there's no structures?

I see, so if the pirates attack something like my trade port and when they destoried it, they leave. That's kool!

 Haven't seen a 1 ship attack.

Perhaps also another the reason it didn't attack anything was because the target faction may have been wiped out on its way to them. Had any Factions been just wiped out at the time?

I would just like to see 2 changes.

1.) Make them to attack all players with bounty on their heads.

2.) Enable them to bypass fortified system and attack "soft" targets.

Their weapons are good and they do a lot of damage but ship hull and armor are weak even late game so 1 SB and planet loyalty can effectively defend planet from all their attacks. So they become exp feeders and resource givers in casa you are playing as vasari.  + instead of attacking structures aka soft targets they attack star basses.

I still think they're kinda strong early on. Not impossible, but still heavy.

Agree with this. Pirates prey upon the weak. Having them go kamikaze at starbases and defenses is lame and not very lore correct.
