Very Clever!

In a recent game(DL), I had a very unique demand for money put to me by the Arceans early in the game.

Lord Vega claimed to be on a mission for galactic peace, and would I please authorize a transfer of 1500bc to their account.

*_*

Yeah....right! I did, however, LMAO.......

Anyone else had such a 'unique' demand....err request for money?

Just one of many "politely" worded tribute demands in the game.

The one I really like is when the AI declares war "to halt race X's ruthless aggression", or words to that effect, when race X is not the aggressor and is already losing. It's blatant dogpiling, but has a very real-world feel to it. The Arceans seem fond of this one too.

Lol XD

Yeah it happens all the time for me. Especially when I play on high diffeculty like "Tough or "Painful". The AI, likes to blackmail the weaker races. But does evil races blackmail more then good races? Just wondering.

Yes, except the Korx - it appears that race personality 7 (Drengin, Yor, and Korath) is designed to demand tribute more then other AIs, although they'll all do it if you're weak enough.

I do have to laugh at some of the demands. Someone gets a few p***-ant one-shot wonders built, and suddenly they're a galactic superpower. A half dozen turns later, when I have a few hulls of my own in orbit, the same race is offering ME money to keep the peace. Funny stuff........

Well, the Terrans blackmailed me once and later thanked me for contributing to their Galaxy Domination funds or something like that. Also, they declared war on me because they didn't want me to win by Ascension. Which was really stupid, since the Arceans were far closer to it. I just had an Ascension Base so the Arceans wouldn't have it!

Edit: And the Arceans also jumped in with that lame "Stopping my war machine" excuse.

I just wonder ... is this mission for galactic peace not going to war with you?

Galactic Peace my a**...the Arceans were on an expansion binge at that moment, beating up on a couple of their hapless neighbors. I guess they just wanted to attempt some scare tactics to add to their war chest.

I've never gotten anything polite...though I play against only evil races, while choosing neutral for myself.  They demand money, I tell them to screw off, they declare war, I buy a massive fleet of ships that finishes as their invaders reach my worlds, I destroy most of their fleet and starbases for good measure, then they give me money to leave them alone.

Pretty much how it always goes.
