Why can you tell if a movie is good just by the intro music?

Why can you tell if a movie is good just by the intro music?

Well may they say that you cannot judge a book by it's cover, but why then can you seemingly always judge a movie by it's intro music?

I am always so amused to instantly know a movie is either good or bad (on rare occasion inconclusive) just by the intro music that i hear?? And in view of this, why then people who make crap movies don't realize this???

I am just asking, because this is one of those mysteries that just continues to irk me, i need to know?

Just an example. Star Trek, Star Trek Generations, Star Trek Voyager, Star Trek Deep Space Nine. All started with this incredible, orchestrated,  individual Star Trek theme. All great.

Until Star Trek 5. I couldn't believe it when I heard the singing start. OK for a song, but, not for a Star Trek theme. 8C And sure enough. I never did get used to it.

I do not sit and know if each and every movie i watch is good or bad just by hearing the intro music

most movies it is inconclusive

it is always so easy to identify them just by the intro music

You failed English Expression and/or Debating class /whatever, didn't you?  [Yes, that's rhetorical]....

Your having so much fun, i would hate to spoil it, But sadly i did not include the word 'every' in that first line, what a shame eh? As it happens, the word 'every' is not there for a god reason, because that was never my claim.... however i will certainly grant that it was not made overly clear, as i had already previously admitted.

Yea, but the whole concept of Startrek Enterprise was difficult to swallow. No one likes to go backwards, that is human nature, and Starwars can get away with it because there not wiping out hundreds of years of human space age story line in order to do it!

Yes, enjoying it immensely....

Particularly the attempt to differentiate between 'every' and 'always'.

In context they are synonymous.

But it's all fun....

Ok ok i went back and had a good look what i posted.... yea, i did Suffer a bit of tunnel vision on the initial point i was making, not considering the full extent of what i was saying, oh well. This is certainly not the first nor will it be the last error in communication i ever make!

judging a movie by its opening theme is like judging a movie script by its cover and brads...

poor judgement and wrong, some movies dont even have an opening theme.

Have you watched Star Trek? Cuz they're timeless. If anything we're trying to catch up to their technology. Or it inspired us to.  In all sorts of ways. Cell phone for one. :-"

Hahahaha, no i meant the enterprise series in context of the time period it is set in! So basically all the brilliant startrek adventures that came at later 'statrek' time periods are all destroyed, and no one likes being dragged backwards like that, even if the enterprise series itself is extremely good, that is just too big of a stupid idea to try and recover from.

"Cell phone for one".....

Hardly....Dick Tracy would have a thing or two to say about that.... on his video-phone-in-a-watch.... ;)

I think the only 'ground-breaking' thing about Trek was that 'inter-racial' kiss.... and a Comms Officer was a step up from the 'typical' cleaner/maid/slave/criminal element in all the contemporary TV fodder....;p

And 'timeless'?  I guess the poor dress-sense was/is timeless...;)

Not a fan eh? In my opinion, there are seriously few tv shows that can top Startrek,,,, possibly Stargate and Babylon five would be the only contenders. I would also have to give mention to Firefly and Andromeda

What holds Startrek back is that the politics can be a little nauseating at times, also have to kick Babylon five for that one as well! That is why firefly and Andromeda always remember to have at least 1 fist fight in every episode! And Stargate, well what can i say - the most technologically primitive and yet clearly would kick ass in a fight against any team from any of the other shows mentioned here.

Edit: and yet how could i forget 'Farscape'

Please forget Farscape....Muppets in Space.

Henson should have kept away from SF...or at least kept it with real kiddie SF like StarWars.

Farscape was great. Wild out there fun.    Scorpius, Tatianna. Great characters. :star:

Why didn't the gumshoe help his buddy with the phone shoe? :w00t:

Good music can make a good game/movie seem awesome, or an average game/movie seem good.

More than people realise i think.

Agree, and that blue chick was hot! don't quite know why?

But my number one hottest sci fi chick.... , easily has to be Tapal, Nothing else even comes close! Sexiest voice award easily won by the character 'Kes' in Voyager, she is a freak! (although a bit of an annoying personality).
