The movie 'Black Swan'

I watched that movie the other day and my reaction was strange?

While i was watching the movie, and i was fully engaged in the plot, i started feeling wrestles and uncomfortable in my seat, and as the movie progressed, and even despite some 'interesting' moments i suddenly realized i was bored shitless! And i'm like, "oh my God, this is really booring!!!, what he hell am i doing watching it?"

The drama did manage to wake up a little bit at the end of the movie, but a pitiful reward for the patience of viewers sitting through all the drudgery of what came before. If you want to watch this movie, you may as well watch an episode of 'Day's Of Our Lives' instead and then switch from that to the last 10 minutes of this movie and it's all just as good.

I haven't decided what I think about Black Swan. It's similar to Aronofsky's previous films in that it relies on provoking a depth, but not bredth, of emotions.

When I watched The Foutain for the first time, I thought it thoroughly unwatchable for roughly the same reasons you didn't like Black Swan. Since then, I've managed to convince myself that it's not only watchable, but actually pretty good.

Do those chicks get naked?

It did take awhile to get where it was going...and then I'm not sure if the journey was worth it. Of the movies I've seen lately, I really enjoyed "The Fighter" but I'm a big boxing fan. Still the story was true, the acting was great and it kept me interested for an hour and a half. There's a good piece on it in Wiki...Wahlberg, Bale and Adams all kinda pushed it to the limit on this one.... <_<

Well do they?

Just curious since I've been wanting to see the movie, but have a low tolerance for boredom.

Ugh, my girlfriend dragged me to the theater to see that movie, I hated it. That star wars / V for Vendetta chick was creepy.

No the chicks don't get naked, but they do get sexy (take that for what you will ;P )

The movie was well made and entertaining but is not one of those movies that you'll want to watch more than once probably.

The worst part about the movie? Whenever a sex scene would come on, some random chick next to me in the theater started squirming in her seat. Started getting rather awkward near the end of the movie...

If you enjoy psychological thrillers you'd like the movie. If you need an explosion every 17 seconds I'd recommend sticking with a Michael Bay movie.

Sounds like it sucks then.

If all you're interested in is naked ladies I seem to remember there being an entire genre of movie devoted to such things...

It's not all that I am interested in, but if the movie is just some boring chick soap opera crap, then I would like some tits to make it more enjoyable.

I hate soap operas. The movie is not a soap opera. She gradually loses her mind and hallucinates killing people and stuff. There is no "omg, johnny cheated on Alex with kelly who is, like, now pregnant but she doesn't, like, wanna keeeep the baby!" shit.

Is there Plenty of gratuitous pizza shots? a movie just isn't worth sitting next to yahoo's for an hour and a half unless there's pizza in it.

Thanks for the replies all.... i do like to post about movies that get great reviews but then disappoint me, or the opposite.

Black Swan however did actually manage to take me into its story, before i realized it was boring, because they really did do a good job with what little they had to work with in terms of story line - managed to squeeze blood from a stone with that story idea i think! But even so, i do not think this movie deserves the reviews it is getting, so i had to speak up.

This is my friend Mariel's review of the movie.

You're friend had a very different reaction to Black Swan than I did. Feminist studies major?

No, she's an art person, but she is a nerdy hippy lesbian.  Thats why she calls herself "Nerdyke".

Not sure what you mean, here is a bigger picture if it helps. I think he is spamming teleport just to watch the AI drag its armies back and forth chasing him while their cities burn \o/

Come on, Natalie Portman in a movie about ballerinas? What did you expect... dancing, torrid emotions, rivalry, jealousy... it's a seminal example of a chick flick. Unless you're female of course it was boring.

Yea, i do have to give some value to that remark! However, since i am married, probably about half the movies i watch are chick flicks and although i do cringe to watch such movies at the beginning, usually i find myself pleasantly entertained, in almost all cases. So in view of this, i do still have plenty of justifiable scorn for Black Swan!
