WinCustomize is one great place

WinCustomize is one great place

I just got off the phone with one of the master skinners from this site.

I needed some pixels pushed (because I'm a no-talent hack) and sent a private message a few days ago asking for some help.  I got 25 images sent back the next day that were over and above anything I could have asked for.

Unfortunately, because I described what i wanted poorly . .they were not useful.  I PM'd again apologizing and describing better what I was hoping for.

Not an hour later I get a PM with a phone number.  We spent two minutes talking about the image and anther ten jsut talking.

Now . . I've been on teh internet since there were only BBS.  I was a Compuserve member and then a AOL and then . . well . . I've been around a while. In all those years though, in all the sites I've visited, only one has reached across the cyber-space into meat-space; this community.

I've made real friends here that I've become closer with over the past ten years than I have with my neighbors.  I've even had skinners over to the house and gone out to dinner with.

Crazy? Yes.

Cool?  Also yes.

Since posting this, two other skinners have pm'd me with phone #'s.  I'm afraid to call them in case they are sex lines.  ;)

More proof that WC is more than a website; it's a commmunity of friends . . . not all of them crazy or hill-billies either.

Po:  I hate.  Can you feel it?

The only person I've spoken to on the phone is BoXXi. He sounds quite normal to me, but then we are both from Yorkshire...

You can speak to me if you want, but just remember the Yorkshire accent is unintelligible south of Chesterfield...

Gee, what would you guys do if you heard a genuine Brooklyn accent. Not from me though 'cause people ask me if I'm from somewhere south of the Carolinas. Don't ask me why.

Guess that would be Florida and with all the retirees from up north living there...you probably do sound like 'em, Uvah. In Georgia we had a lot of "halfbacks" that didn't like FL and ended up landing in the peach state instead. :|

Just for the sake of a laff, yall should know that Steve (WebGizmos) and Doc sound almost identical on the phone.

When my sister had her brain aneurysm, I called Doc, only I had goofed the number and call Steve by mistake. Steve played it off for a few minutes, but when he realized it was a serious call, he told me that I should call Doc. I said that I thought I HAD called Doc. I talked to Steve for 10 minutes or so thinking I was talking to Doc!!!!!

Guess you had to be there, but it was funny as hell.

The reason is (o forgetful one) that Giz called me immediately after you called him and told me what had happened.

So, when you called me, I answered as the Giz.

Result?  One totally confused RnD.  That was fun!  Too bad it wasn't much of a fun time for you, but she's improved, thank G-d.

Btw, I sound much better than the Giz, you hick.

Truth to tell I'd rather be in Georgia than Florida. I've seen pix of the countryside out there and they are gorgeous.

Georgia reminds me of kudzu & red clay....I spent my most of my childhood summers there on the farm.
