That's an awful lot to do. When I got my external it came with WD (Western Digital) Software. Does continuous backup as I work. No need to schedule anything. A 1TB drive is really big. So I guess you could say its a mirror image of my C Drive. Plus I can add to it if i want. One of those happy accidents. I didn't know about the software when i got the drive.

Yrag, it'll be over at about 9 tonight.

That's a bit fatalistic...I'm certain we can fix it in spite of your best efforts to the contrary.

.........let me know if you want your feelings hurt in public or private.

OK Lucky, let's review:

I'm a dummy

I think you're being charitable

I run a pretty tight ship.

I'd need hip boots to wade through that much bullshit.

BTW, ran scf /scannow to no avail. All it did was disable LogonStudio...lol.

No malware that I can detect.

Did you think of those all on your own, 'cause I never mentioned them. I told you to boot from the Win 7 DVD and restore. Did that somehow not fit into your computer savvy mentality because I see no reference anywhere that you gave that the old grade school try.

I have Acronis 2010 but instead of backups, I clone drives. Problem is, I haven't in a while.

I'm not sure I can adequately express my feelings on that one.... it makes my fuckin' head hurt too much....

Did you miss school the day they taught to RTFM or don't hillbilly schools get to that grade?

Now, I want you to write this down;

Don't clone. Backup drive.

Don't leave it to your memory to do it. Set TI scheduler to do it on a daily basis (although on that tight ship you run, you might have to do it 3 or 4 times a day since your fuckups are instantaneous and numerous).

I do hope you had a fine Christmas.

Love

Boot into safe mode and system restore will work. I've done this dozens of times.

Never have I seen anyone use that and it worked...but if it worked for you more power to you...seriously!

Of course, the easiest solution would be --->
and then

I would not want yrag on my case. He's a bully ... in a nice sort of way. But ya gotta admit yrag knows his stuff so maybe having him on your case is not such a bad thing after all. Now to go run and hide before he shoots me.

Yrag, you have made my day!!   Can you tell a dyslexic redneck why backup and not clone?

I love you too...Merry Christmas....you old softy.

BTW, Yrag, just for you, this year I'll hang some mistletoe over my ass.....<3

And what the heck does this mean?

In my best Elmer Fudd voice....Uh oh! ;P

You never need a 'clone'. A 'backup' will image everything on the target drive. Some backup apps will not restore an image to a virgin disk irrespective of the size (thus the clone option)... TI will.

Do not use "One Click Backup"

Go to Windows Services and disable: Distributed Link Tracking Client

Open TI.

Put blank CD in tray and start Media Builder. Make full copy of TI to CD. Put CD aside unless you need it when you can't boot or TI will not operate from within Windows.

Now go into "Disk and Partition Backup" and set one up as a scheduled task. (include 'Validation'). You can save and close and it will run as scheduled or you you can open TI at any time and 'Run Now'

If for some reason, all else fails, boot up the CD and use it to backup and restore until we can figure out what the problem is in Windows.

OK, did all that, I still get the failure to read error.

^ You can say that again, bud.

Big surprise.... the redneck got a "Failure to read" notification.

Looks to me that you will be getting that SSD drive soon.
