Divinity II: The Dragon Knight Saga

... has finally come to the Impulse store a week after its release. [e digicons]B)[/e]

It contains a remastered version of Divinity II: Ego Draconis (which was a great game) and the expansion Divinity II: Flames of Vengeance. The original game is quite fun with lots of interesting side quests and exporation. If it comes anywhere near the 100 hours of gameplay as the Impulse Store description claims, it is a great deal for people that like RPGs and/or dragons and is getting far less attention than it deserves

i think i can say i hate this game, never was and never will be better then beyond divinity, they really failed at the idea of transformation into a dragon only use that for travel and some air combat never get to go air to ground combat . the way you go out to kill stuff and level up feels way to much like an MMO then a single player game. they betrayed my trust kinda like stardock did for elemental but they want to fix it no issue with that now, do they really need to attempt an xpack to fix a horrible game?

i feel cheated of my time and money on how this compares to beyond divinity that was great and fun i have only had issues with divinity 2.

The reason for no air to ground combat is due to not everyone having a 64-bit OS as it would have taken too much memory. Regarding leveling and combat; the leveling is mechanically the same as Divine Divinity (likely because many did not like the changes to that in Beyond Divinity) and the combat is shaped by the 3rd party engine they used (same for Beyond Divinity, though with different engines).

Picked it up when it was $20 on Steam. Really underwhelmed by it so far. The single player MMO feeling is unshakable, which isn't a good feeling for me. Lots of busywork with little plot to keep you interested. The lack of class and proper skill progression really destroys any sense of balance. Why can I pick final-tier ranger skills when I haven't put a single point into the ranger tree?

I'd be disappointed had I paid the full $40 it. As it is I guess it was worth the $20. Barely.

If you pay attention in the tutorial (and talk/listen to the right people), you will note that your character is said to already knew all the skills but forgets them for a time due to the ritual preformed on them. Therefor you are just remembering what you already knew how to do (though you can train skills at skill trainers to up the max skill points you can put in it).
