Fire Fox is freezing

Connection is resetting

As I was typing this post the connection was reset. This happens suddenly and for no reason other than the page still loading at the time. Sometimes, more often now, FF will just stop working and I have to close it then re-open it. Pages load very slowly over several minutes and waiting to send a PM or respond to a thread is frustrating. Any ideas. I have the latest version 3.6.12 FF

Could be a plugin :S

Or

Firefox may be be slow to respond or hang if multiple copies of its Session Restore file have been created:

  1. Open your profile folder:
    1. (Firefox 3.6): At the top of the Firefox windowOn the menu bar, click on the Help menu and select Troubleshooting Information.... The Troubleshooting Information tab will open.
    2. Under Application Basics, click on Open Containing FolderShow in Finder.
  2. From the menu at the top of the Firefox windowbar, select FileFirefox and then select the ExitQuit FirefoxQuit menu item.
  3. Locate and delete the sessionstore.js file and any copies, such as sessionstore-1.js, sessionstore-2.js.

You could always clean out the cookies and browser history and see if that helps.  :S

I don't know if this means anything or not but ... it only happens when I'm at a certain locale. I use three different hotspots. The other two I have no problem with and only at that spot do the pages load very slowly. I'm thinking their bandwith isn't enough to handle more than a dozen or so computers.

I've been having FF crash on me almost every day several times a day for about 2 or 3 weeks....I finally got fed up with it and went back to version 3.5 and it works great again. Newer isn't always better! |-)

Firefox uses a lot of ram the longer you are on it the more it uses and that will slow things down, check with taskmanager.Restarting firefox resets the ram it is using.

I'm having FF crashing problems the last week or so, but it only happens when I'm on Twitter... I assumed it was a Twitter issue.

Mine seemed to crash just by clicking on a video...certain web pages and even just hitting my back button and I just got tired of sending them crash report after crash report with never any reply as to why it kept happening. Since going back to 3.5 it hasn't crashed once and works just fine. Hope it works for you as well Syd! |-)

Thank you sydeysiders. It'll make for a good back-up in case 3.6.10 craps out. I was running 3.6.12.

I uninstalled 3.6 and tried for a persona that I use and no dice. All the personas are for 3.6 version. After installing 3.5.15 it took nearly ten minutes to load the page. I don't think its a Firefox issue though as it happened with IE8 also. Another thing I found. Went to the persona page for FF and there was a reply saying that the personas are buggy causing FF to freeze and unusable. Right now I have no persona but still have the Stylish dark theme. That doesn't seem to be affecting it. There's something going on with FF that's screwing up stuff.

Like blocking e-mail. I can't get to my e-mail using FF because FF is blocking yahoo's mail page with that dang upgrade to FF 3.6. A page comes up saying to upgrade and I can't get past it. Have to use IE8 to get there.

I'm using FF 3.6.1 with Ad-Block Plus and am having no issues with pages freezing or in logging in to yahoo mail.  You could try running a good cleaner that scrubs FF cache, cookies history etc.

It could also be addons that are causing the problem.

I run CCleaner all the time and this sort of thing has never happened before. Gonna go do some stuff. See if I can remedy the situation.

Thanks for the link Doc. Looks like I'm gonna have to go after the beta version. I'll let you know what happens. If I don't blow me up first. lol

I am using 3.6.12 with no issues at all and have never had an issue with FF in any version except the beta 4.0 which so far is a POS IMO.  Most definitely probably an add-on issue.  Try to keep them to a minimum, if you don't need them or use them often, just get rid of them.  |-)

Which one is it? It is maybe or maybe it isn't. I'm so confused.   Doing that now with an uninstall then a re-install of 3.6.12 without the add-ons. If it works I'll take the beta and shelve it till the RC comes out. Or I just might play with it for a bit.
