Unable to play multiplayer over LAN - checksum different

Hello All,

I've been running the latest version of the Distant Stars mod of the latest version of Entrenchment (1.051) for some time now over my LAN and have not had any problems playing multiplayer. A couple days ago I tried experimenting with adding the beta versions of the Kol and Marza, without success. Actually broke my game, making me unable to play, but I have since fixed that problem. Anyways, I reloaded my backup of Distant Stars and I can play SINGLE player just fine, and multiplayer of stock SINS works great, but on my box and my spare box (that one of my friends uses when he comes over) the checksum is different. We've both since re-copied the mod from my backup to the right directories, disabled and re-enabled them, but the mod checksum remains different on each PC, and we thus cannot join each other's game. Any idea how to fix this?

Do you have different mods enabled at same time. If so they need to be enabled in the same order for both computers. Try to set up LAN game without mods first. After I disabled TSOP mod sometimes i have some of its elements still in the game..... Don't ask how or why. Perhaps it happens the same with DS.

Need EXACT same mod enabled on both. If you altered any files, that changes the checksum.

I had originally edited the english.str file, but restored the original to both PCs. When that failed to work, I disabled the Distant Stars mod completely, and multiplayer worked. Figuring it was a corruption somewhere, I downloaded Distant Stars again and overwrote it on both PCs, to no effect. Short of reinstalling the game on both PCs, what can I try?

Don't just overwrite distant stars. You need to delete or rename the old DS installation and reapply it from scratch. Extra files from previous changes, even though they may not be used in the mod, will affect the checksum.

@Zombierues: that worked, thanks for the info.
