  • Due: October

v1.A (Expansion 1)

  • New Combat System (To Hit stat with damage being rolled separately, lots of other changes)

Can you elaborate on the graphical overhaul? i do hope you keep the paintery style as it makes elemental stand out. sure, it has its flaws in certain areas (the characters themselves, the fallen lands) but i think that overall, it is unique and quite beautifull.

I agree, I actually like the artistic approach to the game. But, whatever they do with it I'm sure I'll like it (in one degree or another :))

Looks good!

But please remember offers from people to help you with this - when I see "minor balance tweaks" I am little concerned as I see balance not mentioned again on this list.

And I dont mean huge overhaul changes, as you've got them in mind, but small things that make a huge difference. For example, we now have pre-gen sovereigns, still unbalanced, running around with abilities that new sovereigns cannot have!

Brad, please see: https://forums.elementalgame.com/396755 - just a "yes please" or "no thanks" would be appreciated.  :)

Thanks for the information.

One thing I've been wondering about, with Galactic Civilization II, the expansions were spaced out roughly a year apart.

With the second expansion scheduled for 1Q2011 that doesn't seem to leave a lot of time for new development.  I know you've said you're committed through 2011 but compared to how long you guys worked on GC2 it doesn't seem like there's much of a future.  When you said expansions, I was expecting something more along the lines of a minimum of 6 months between expansions.  The amount of changes and refinement that can occur in 6 months compared to 2 months -- well that's what I was expecting when I hear expansions.

I'm sorry if any of this comes across as complaining, it's not meant to.  It's difficult to articulate what I'm thinking without the tone being taken the wrong way.  If it wouldn't look stupid, I'd have inserted smileys every 5th word.

If the peaks of excitement are the release of expansions, it just seems like all the excitement is being front loaded in the first 6 months instead of spread out over a year or more.  After 1Q2011, what will there be to look forward?  :)

To hit and damage being rolled separately!  Yay for simple changes, cant wait.

I'm happy to see the potential progress in store for the game's future.

Is the 1st expansion going to be developed in parallel to the 1.09 and 1.1 updates?

I want a pony.

Only if it's pink and from space!

Pink space pony would be a lot to ask, but I deserve it, so yes, I want a pink space pony.

These expansions look like fairly large patches... which is fine, and there are some good things in there (I'm really glad tactical battles are getting lots of love).  Most of this, given how flexible the engine is, shouldn't be that rough to accomplish.  The hardest problem is balancing.

Yeah, and don't charge $25 like Blizzard does! :(

Looking good.

The plan of attack is looking very sound.  As long as you execute well, I feel I will be a very happy camper in the coming months.  Thanks for the update.

guns and butter? What does that mean?

Isn't it obvious?  You can choose whether or not to stick a gun or butter in your slot.  Duh.

Hopefully they have a margerine option as well.

So...nothing on MP. Hope I am mistaken.

Fixes to the core game are fixes to MP as well.
