Doesn't work properly!!!

Ok-when i use Mycolors it only applies icons and wallpaper-but not always the wallpaper that is shown with the theme e.g. when applying gloss grey i get no skinning (just goes to windows classic) and a wallpaper with a horse pictured on it-not the grey one pictured.

This also happened with gloss burgandy.

I noticed in settings that Screen.exe and  Wbsrv.dll are marked as UNKNOWN-which i guess is the problem.

I also have had windowblinds 7 installed alongside but the problem remains even if windowblinds is uninstalled and mycolors reinstalled.

I've tried pretty much everything-verify installation (which by the way sometimes shows WB7 as needing a small update or sometimes not...) removing and reinstalling mycolors on its own or with WB7,using the odnt zapper exe to remove any leftovers-nothing seems to fix this.

This PC is running XP SP3 fully updated(direct x etc).

Please help as this is really putting me off using these programs as they quite often have caused problems in the past so i had stopped using them for a year (despite having a 2 year subscription to Objectdesktop-which i don't see any point in renewing unless there is an easy fix).

May I suggest that you would probably be better served by emailing [email protected] and starting a ticket.  Be sure to include your system information along with identifying the problem.  The more information that you can provide the easier it will be for support to help you.  :sun:

Starting a ticket would be a good idea.  In the meantime I can pass this along:

Gloss Burgandy comes with 2 wallpapers, the bookshelf one pictured and an abstract which I think is what you're seeing.  After you click "Apply" in my colors a window comes up which asks "Would you like to apply the selected elements below:" and lists a string of wallpapers.  At a quick glance you'll see the wallpapers are different resolutions, but if you look more closely you'll see there are actually 2 sets, "Gloss" and "GlossB", 1 for each of the wallpapers.  Pick the other one at the appropriate resolution.

For Gloss Grey I only see the one, "running horse", which is what you're seeing.  I don't think they packed the abstract with it.

While you're in that window you can also select what pieces of the theme to apply - the wallpaper, the gadgets, the Windowblinds Skin, the icon package.  Make sure they are all checked.

If they are all checked and the Windowblinds still doesn't load, then I have to ask if you are running XP with a limited user logon.  If you are, try loading a theme while logged on as an administrator, it will probably load.  I have never been able to get the full theme to load while logged in as a limited user, I just load up the parts individually - the icons and Windowblinds will load from their respective programs.

So go ahead and sent support a ticket, they may have come up with something since I asked them about it ages ago, but in the meantime hopefully that will let you load the themes.

Oh, and regarding the "verify installation", it seems to me like Updating the Mycolors caused the WB to want and update, and visa-versa.  Personally I've just let MyColors sit and keep the Windowblinds updated.
