Speeding Multiplayer Turns?

For some reason every multiplayer game has almost every turn passing faster than I can complete all the tasks.  I usually can only finish 60% of my stuff before the next turn begins and I play with an above average speed.  I verified my game options don't have quick turn or auto move enabled.  I don't know if the host is forcing the game turn or if its something on my system... only happens in MP.

Any  advice?

Wow.  Can there be an option for amount of time left to finish your turn after the first player has finished their turn please, for example 10 seconds then multiples of 5 seconds to 60 seconds and also an unlimited option if everyone agrees to it?  *Especially* for co-op games.

Also, a very visible countdown timer so we know where we are at please?

Best regards,
Steven.

It seems, that whenever someone ends a turn, you have 10 seconds to do so yourself.

O M G !!  That has so many problems in so many ways.   How are these decisions even made?  I'm guessing roulette wheel.

... that explains so much.  That perfectly jives with my experience playing multi, except that I'm on the fast end.  This is completely the wrong way to do a multiplayer turn timer for a strategy game.  Actions are not distributed evenly across turns, and some strategies have different timings that require their player input on different turns than other strategies.  And we're not even talking major differences in strategy, here; even a turn's difference in strategic timing makes this turn timer system ridiculous.

There were a lot of decisions around MP that seem to have been made with the intent of having a SC2 style competitive league game. I have no idea why that decision got made, but it spawned a lot of other ones that make no sense on their own for the genre (like how the turn timer works).

Can you turn it off at least? That kind of mechanic would make coop games basically unplayable.

Agreed, it's very poor design, making the games too hectic and with possibilities to purposefully annoy other players :( Hopefully there will be options to choose a set time limit in the future.

Currently, the 10 seconds is ok, but thats only because you can't save/load a game.  Just need an option for the next patch for between 10secs-1min, or no timer at all.

The good thing about when you press end turn, is that you can STILL do stuff, search around your towns, look at kingdom reports.  Most games have you staring at a picture after you press end turn, and i am grateful that is NOT the case here.
