"The award-winning series will be available for digital distribution services soon!"

This is very good news indeed! http://aow2.heavengames.com/ is the fansite. Where dwells Unofficial Patch 1.4 and many other goodies besides!

"TS told me they are putting the AoW series online (on Steam), putting an end to the game not being easily available anymore."

If you didn't have it already before now, you should be ashamed of yourself :p

I'm ashamed. v_v

In my defense (as sorry as it is) I was sucked into the world of MMOs when those came out and didn't play much else.  Well except for Space Empires IV, Galactic Civilizations, and Civ III.

I'm a shamed I don't have Shadow Magic. I have original AoW and AoW2: Wizard's Throne though! Semi-redeemed? ;p

It's official that it will be available on Impulse.

Quoting Frogboy,
The Age of Wonders series is going to be on Impulse shortly. So players will at least be able to try that out and see how others have approached it.

I have all three games, but if they release it on Impulse or GamersGate, then I'll buy AoW:SM for a second time -- in the vain hope to encourage the publisher to finance a sequel. Naive, perhaps, but the AoW series is one of my favourites and there's little else I can do to help the chances of a continuation. :)

Steam is better than no digital release, but yes, I'd definitely prefer Impulse or GamersGate.

Edit: Just saw the post about it also hitting Impulse. Good news!

Maybe I'm alone but I didn't really enjoy the AOW series as much as I wanted to.  I didn't like the long drawn out battles.  You couldn't autoresolve because you best units would die.  Hated trying to time out killing blows to level certain units.  Most of all I hated how one AI troop would run around flipping control of your shards and resources. Don't even get me started on underground & the void (or whatever it was called).

However, I really enjoyed the spells, unit abilities, and item builder.  Loved the possession, blink, and wall climbing abilities.  Those were crazy fun.

I e-mailed Triumph studios a month or so back asking where I could get it (SM). Got a return e-mail telling me the only place was gametap and that they were planning a digital copy soon so I guess this is it. SM is a great expansion and the final level on hard was... hard. Recommended.

I am with you on this Mivo.

I own all three and AoW:SM has never been off any of my computers since I bought it the week it came out, but still tempted to buy the digital versions for the faint hope Triumph will make another AoW.

About the only thing that aggravates me with the game also. It's even worse on Oracle's Eye with it having all the sides in and along with the underground also. Of course, that was my favorite map.

Interesting that these older but fantastic games are now re-released. It says a lot about the current games in this genre! :)  I just noticed that GamersGate now has MoO2 listed as well, so Atari seems to have made that one available for digital distribution too. Certainly another game that I would like an authentic sequel of (let's just not talk about MoO3).

Any update on when Age of Wonders is going to be on Impulse.   It's been 10 days since Brad said "shortly". :)

Yep, Great game. I'll probably buy it again, just so I don't have to mess with the disc.

wonder if they are going through a backlog of games to release :)  They just added master of orion II today.  Ah - good memories.
