[Suggestion] Speed Up Tactical Combat

Tactical combat is too slow. If anything will keep me from enjoying this game long-term, this is it.

 

1. Let us place units.

2. Let us let the AI move units for us, but let us break in. (The AI is pretty smart, right?)

3. Let us turn off combat animations or speed them up. (I prefer speedup. It's less teleportish.)

4. Let us scroll the tactical combat map by the screen edges.

5. Let us turn off the auto-center effect of unit selection.

Definite support for 1, 3 and 4 though 4 is being added on release day afaik.

Frogboy also mentioned tweaking the camera for tomorrow's update, so hopefully that will take care of #5 as well. It can get pretty annoying, for sure.

While I agree with all your suggestions, I don't need Tac battles to be quick. Just smoother.

and yes, 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 all make tactical battles smoother (especially 1 and 5)

I agree with all suggestions. Also, allow us to move multiple units at once (for movement related actions) or something. That might speed it up quite a bit because we won't have to wait.

tbh though, I don't really care if I can place units but I'd like a little more control over where they start (archers and mages in rear, infantry in front).

yep ... like being able to select all archers to attack a single unit, with maybe 2 or 3 clicks max. (if you already have all archers as ctrl 1, then just click 1 and then click attack on the enemy)

I suggest a "recast last tactical spell" button in the tactical battle UI. Often at any given time you are going to have a favorite spell that you will case over and over.

Even better would be to have 4 or 5 hotkeys that you can preloae with your 4 or 5 favorite spells. You could either have a hotbar with the spells icons on it, or, failing that at least ctrl 1-4(or 5) and be able to map those to a spell.

And I like most of the ideas so far here to speed tactical battles up a bit.
