"Out of Range"

My monitor is reporting that Elelemental is "out of range".

 

I've had this happen a couple of times before and it isn't so hard to fix. However, after playing with the Default file in the Data folder (which is, I assume the right one to fiddle with) I get no where. It seems to ignore my request for 800x600 windows or windowed mode.

 

Does anyone have a solution?

 

EDIT: Found out that 1024x768 is the minimum resolution and tried to set it at that, but it still says it is out of range. On a side note, I was playing the beta without any problems, so this is new.

I believe 1024x768 is the lowest resolution Elemental can support, which is likely why it's ignoring your request for 800x600.

Correct!

 

Also, fiddling should be done here: My Documents\My Games\Elemental\prefs.ini

Resolution changes are right at the top.

What is the resolution your screen is running at?

1152x864 is my preference, but I switched it around (up and down) to test it against the game. it didn't make a difference.

 

I wouldn't consider it much of a bug or anything, I've had to deal with this on Left 4 Dead 2 and a couple of other recent games so it's not unusual. Still, I'm not entirely sure what it is that causes it.
