Cool / New Stuff

For those who customize everything

Hey Everyone,

I keep having the want to tell the community about new software or customization tricks so I'll just keep updating this post rather than starting new ones all the time.

1. New Logon Animation for Windows 7

I came across this tweak the other day and I figured it needed to be shared with the wincustomize community. ~alexandru-r-ghinea made a new version of the windows 7 logon UI. It's pretty cool, and easy to install.

Download the file in the info section (it's safe, I did it.) Then just back up the old authui.dll file in windows/system32, rename it, and replace it with the downloaded one. You can also install to C:/temp and then run the batch file, but I've heard of people having problems with this approach. There is a embedded windows flag version, and a version without a flag too. There is an animation when you log in, it's kind of interesting.

Here's the link:

You can still tweak the background with logonstudio, this just changes the logon UI. I'm using it now, and it's refreshing to see something a little different when I log on.

2Trillian 5 beta released

Trillian 5 beta is now available for windows download. It's a multi protocol social client that is very powerful. The GUI is much improved and there are many new features. Anyone who's used trillian knows it's a great program. Try it out:

3Senary Iconpackage by 'Arrioch

I came across this iconpackage today and it's one of the most impressive one's I've seen. 'Arrioch is a very talented artist over at DA, specializing in icon development. I got permission to give a link to the iconpackage. I strongly suggest downloading this one, it's definitely worth it.

4. You gotta try this!!! The Web Genius

So I found this "game" on gizmodo this morning and I've been trying to beat it all day! It's almost like playing against someone who's REALLY good at 20 questions. So far it's guessed Nikola Tesla, Timmy's dad from The Fairly Oddparents,  Shaun white, max weinberg, steve jobs, toucan sam, Sebastian (The Little Mermaid), Myself, and Secret Squirrel!!!

Maybe I'm just not creative enough, but this is really fun. Worth a try.

The Web Genius

Anyone else found anything cool lately? I always love finding new tweaks/tricks.  ;)

For most of the world that is a month away....
End of quote

Haha yeah, I guess we didn't agree with writing the date in a way that makes sense.......The funny thing is, I guarantee that most American's will say the rest of the world is wrong ;P

Essentially only the US puts the day after the month.

The 'correct' date today is 10/08/2010, not 08/10/2010

So....Eighth of September, 2010 will be 08/09/10

A far better way [if only people would use it] is YEAR, MONTH, DAY.....20100810

Because it makes SENSE.....;p

Day, Month, Year vs Month, Day, Year I think is what these folks mean, but it's hard to figure out some folks at times.

Dl'd it and it looks cool. They have this Prayaya V3 as a give away. I never heard of such a thing. I got an eight gig scandisk. Does that mean I can put my laptop on it and stick it in my pocket and why would I want to? Good for some I guess.

Found this while having my wake-up coffee. Now you can do all your stuff in Cyber's cyber space. As for me one virtual world is good enough.

20 hrs. 52 min. left.

Returnil System Safe 2011 uses an advanced anti-malware and virtualization technology. It clones (copies) your operating system and creates a virtual environment for your PC.

Instead of loading the native operating system, a clone is loaded that allows you to run your applications and perform your online activities in an entirely isolated environment. In this manner, your actual operating system is never affected by viruses, Trojans, malware and other malicious threats. To return to the actual operating system environment, you just need to restart your PC.

While working in the virtual environment, you have the option of saving documents and files so that your data will not be lost when the system is restarted. Read more at http://www.returnilvirtualsystem.com/returnil-system-safe

Another installment of giveawayoftheday.

I check this page every day to see what is being offered. When I find something that I think someone might be interested in I'll post it here. Today is an app that puts your 'real time' desktop in a virtual setting that prevents any virus, mallware etc, from screwing things up. Any changes made, unwanted or otherwise is recorded in the virtual environment and not in 'real time'. You can save changes such as to important folders, files and such and if anything does get through a simple re-boot restores everything to what it was. Check it out.

Nice. Now I'll go have a looksee.

I had it for all of one day and it screwed with FireFox just like the last one I tried. My opinion ... don't bother. Pages were timing out, loading very slowly or not at all. Now that its gone everything is back to normal.
