Elemental Character Mods [Version 0.3]
Created by Folcik009

Beta 4 has opened MANY new possibilities. Today I've created many modified skintones to use for ingame characters, included darker roads, and implemented Kalamona's Deadeye mod. Additionally, I have also fixed the Amarian female's eyes which were not displaying. Lastly, I have included my first heroes package containing ten new heroes.

Download Link: http://depositfiles.com/en/files/4t7xj1sfz

** Important: Make sure to delete old .XML files **

Mods Included:

  • Character skins mods
    • Male_Groomed- An shaved groomed face.
    • Male_Hairy- Three "Hairy" textures.
    • Male_Handsome- An alternative.
    • Male_Older- A less old version of "aged".
    • Male_Smoother- My not very successful attempt at making an asian skin.
    • Female_Aristocrat- An alternative aristocrat
    • Female_ThickBrows- An alternative thickbrows.
    • Female_ThinBrows- An alternative thinbrows and one with leggings.
  • Darker and Browner Roads- Darkened the road texture more to my liking. Looks great!
  • Kalamona's Deadeye Mod- Adds three "dead" eyes to fallen women.
  • AmarianFemale Eye Fix- Fixes the Amarian female eyes.
  • Heroes Pack- Adds 10 new NPC heroes for spawning.

How to Install:

  • Place the skins (.png) into: C:\???\Elemental\Gfx\HKB\Units
  • Place the road (.png) into: C:\???\Elemental\Gfx\Roads
  • Place the eyes (.png) into: C:\???\Elemental\Gfx\Eyes
  • Place the "EyesMods", "FixHeads", "Heroes", and "NewSkins" .XML files into: C:\Users\???\Documents\My Games\Elemental\Units
  • Place the example faction file into: C:\Users\James\Documents\My Games\Elemental\Race

Using the Mods:
- The roads should work automatically as soon as you established a trade route. I didn't modify the cobble roads that eventually develop.
- The skins are now implemented properly.

Changing a skin:
If you want to change an already created custom unit's or sovereign's skin then you must modify their individual .XML file (C:\Users\???\Documents\My Games\Elemental\Units). Open the file and scroll down until you see <Texture_Skin>???</Texture_Skin> and change the "???" to whatever texture you want to use (ex. K_Male_Older_Texture_01.png). Launch the game, select your sovereign, and see the difference!

Bugs:
- The FixHeads.XML doesn't appear to be working, can't figure out why not. I'm trying to allow Amarian females to have more then one choice.
- Portrait will still display old texture until I discover how to refersh portraits.
- Cannot change skins of games already running. Must be a new game.
- There might be some corruption with child characters. I don't know.
- Please let me know if there are any problems!

Future Plans:

In the future, when it is possible, I plan on expanding character customization where you'll have access to more skins, heads, hairs, clothes, and equipment.

  • Character Mods:
    • More skins
    • More heroes
      • A "MMORPG" type community hero pack consisting of forum user's personal heroes.
    • All Heads for all races (low chances for non-racial)
    • All hairs for all races (low chances for non-racial or wrong gender)
    • Clothing for all (unlocked clothing)
    • Access to more equipment at Sov. creation
    • Ability to possibly purchase new clothing and hairstyles
  • Armory Mods:
    • New armors
    • Specifically, some cheap light armor that is more fashionable then leather
    • "Ability packs" to represent advanced unit training (similar to Ranger or Medical Pack)

If anyone wants to help and contribute to expanding upon the character modification, Just PM me or post here. I'd LOVE to put together a Hero pack of community heroes.

I made some Maori Tattoo skins a while back, so I'm game for the skinpack modification.

If anyone wants to help and contribute to making a skinpack modification, I'd be game.

I just made some empty, "dead" eyes to some fallen women. Feel free to include to your mod if you want.

Nice work, those look great! I think I'll update the skinpack later tonight.

Also, MagicwillNZ, if you want to upload your tatoo'ed skins, I can add it to the skinpack mod.

Updated with some more skins which are now implemented into the game WITHOUT any core modifications. I'm trying to avoid touching those as much as possible.

Added Kalamona Deadeye's mod too. Thanks!

Heroes:

I'd love to start making a new heroes pack. If you want to contribute with your own custom hero let me know or post 'em. I just need the .XML data and their icon/medallion.

Also, let me know if your interested in doing a "community" heroes pack. I think that'd be neat!

UPDATE: I just discovered code for custom soundpacks for characters (from Sovereigns.XML).

Code: xml
  1. <SoundPack>SOUNDPACK</SoundPack>

Soundpack Variables include:

  • Soundpack_MaleKnight1
  • Soundpack_BlkKnight1
  • Soundpack_OldWizard1
  • Soundpack_DarkOracle1
  • Soundpack_FemaleAdv1
  • Soundpack_FemaleAdv2

Code: xml
  1. <AnimationPack>ANIMATION</AnimationPack>

Also a few more animation options:

  • ReliasAnimationPack
  • LadyProcipineeAnimationPack
  • GeneralCarrodusAnimationPack
  • LadyIraneAnimationPack
  • LordMarkinnAnimationPack
  • OracleCeresaAnimationPack
  • EmperorKaravoxAnimationPack
  • EmperorMagnarIIIAnimationPack
  • WarlordVergaAnimationPack

You could put this in your custom heroes or sovereigns and make 'em sound even better.

Version 0.3 release

.3- Third Release- Some bugfixes, small updates, refined heroes, minor balancing, implemented with Abilities Mod, added sovereign pack, added in some example factions.

Download Link: http://depositfiles.com/files/4t7xj1sfz

** Important: Delete old .XML files before updating **

My next goal is to re-tune the core NPCs so they use my Abilities Mod, it'll make 'em quite a bit more interesting. I also need to work on balancing the heroes and the new abilities. Some new NPCs may start with no weapons, gotta fix that too.

I'd also like to start working on a "community NPC pack" if anyone is interested. I believe that all of this will carry over into the released game with little to no trouble. Maybe I'll throw up a thread tomorrow...

Enjoy and let me know what you think!

UPDATE: This mod should still work with the release version of the game. I'm running it on my game.

Considering that Stardock still hasn't fixed the Amerian female eye situation, it's nice to have this around. I mean, do the Amerian females only have ONE eye color (when the males have many)? It's a simple oversight and not too difficult to fix.

If anyone would like to add any skins, eyes, hairs, or heroes. Let me know! I'm going to make a post sometime tonight regarding the "Community Companions Modpack" or maybe "Community of Heroes", LOL. I'd love it if everyone submitted their player character as a hero for everyone to download.

I installed this on the 1.01 version, but it doesn't seems to work (the mod). You said you could run it on the release version, but I doesn't get it to work :S And yes, I'm pretty sure that I have checked the "Use Mods" mark in options (though that might not be essential?)

Any help appreciated

Hmmm, where'd you put the files? And do you know, specifically, which file isn't working or what isn't working (road, eyes, skins, champions)?

You could also try disabling the FixHeads.xml file... I shouldn't have left it in there but decided to keep it there in case a better modder could figure out it's problems. Maybe thats the problem?

Lastly, many of the champions use some of my Traits and Abilities Mod, however, they are not dependant on one another to work (though highly recommended).

I need to update this mod anyways. It's been streamlined a bit since last release. I'll try and do that tonight.

Let me know if any of this helps :)

Ah, silly me, I found the error

I extracted the "My Games" folder straight to documents, and forgot to move the "Race" and Unit" folders to the "Elemental" folder in the "My Games" folder

Might be i upload my Sovereigns if you want them. I just need to make background stories to them :P

haha, it's always something silly like that. Glad to hear its working. I suppose I could have put another "Elemental" folder under "My Games" but I didn't want to make it a maze of folders. What do you think?

Also, if you'd like to convert your sovereign into a hero/champion unit (once you finish his background) I could add him into an impending "Community Heroes Pack" for people to play with.

I'm loving this man, good show.

Looks like your first post linked to some sort of "Abilites Mod" which looks sweet on it's own but didn't do much for looks XD

Errr Something has gone very very wrong here, don't ask me why but the men All the race's women you build in game all look like this!

Dear god.....

LOL, don't know what could be causing that but that's worse then my companion here.

What race were you using, with what faction, and what mods? I suppose it could be the "ModFixHeads" that I included (and discovered it didn't work). Try removing that mod file and seeing if it is still giving you problems.

You sure she didn't mate with an orc or something? lol.

I'll update the download link in a bit. Sorry about that, don't know what happened.

Yeah it was definitely the head fix thing, everything fine now, the various races are no longer on the cusp of dying out due to the hideous women.

Good to hear. I looked over all the skin code and everything looked fine. Don't really understand why that stupid head fix would do that anyways. I guess I coded in the wrong head model somewhere for women? idk.

Anyways, glad to hear your population is growing again... unlike Germany's.
