[Suggestion] Random Variable Used to Create Varied Cities

One thing I will try to make as a mod if the vanilla doesn't have it is a way to make cities feel aesthetically different from one another. I propose that you devs use one of your six hours or less cards to build three or four variants for each building in the game. This way a random variable can decide a unique looking, but overall form following, building for one's cities. It would make the houses and huts and slums a little more pallatable and really make the close ups shine through in screen shots that you will use to market the game.

If you don't think this is worth your time, at least open up this portion of coding so I can spend my time making small variants on the buildings and uploading them to the library afer release. Then I can set the random choice function and make it available to the masses. Even if I did ten a week, we'd have a huge level of aesthetic variety and we could eventually expand that to making each faction have slightly different flavors to their buildings.

This will certainly be an area ripe for articulation in the future.

It'd certainly be nice to see more varied cities, but it's by no means necessary. Still...I'd like to be able to visually distinguish my different cities from each other.

With the Tile/Building Editor you can make every building for every faction look different. That way every faction's cities will look unique. ;)

Every faction but not every city and outpost!

To put it as plainly as possible, what the devs would need to add is simply the code for the game to randomly select a building from the appropriate type.

So if you build a house, the game will randomly choose a house from your "house folder". Presumably you have made some of your own, so there will be many to choose from. If you haven't, then the game will simply choose the single default one made by the devs.

Its a good idea.

I think building houses can be more fun than actually playing the game. This version of it at least. I only ever play gal civ now to test out new ship designs.
