It isn't typical that I would take this kind of action. I'm most generally of the philosophy that I can't make a difference.

Let's hope I'm wrong this time.

The link below is from a news sorce in the small town that I work in. It deals with a animal shelter employee's account of animal abuse from the local animal control officer and the blind eyes being turned by those in power that have the ability to do something about it. I encourage you to read the article, wipe the tears away, read the user comments, wipe more tears away and above all, help me spread the word of this to as many as you can.

I did submit it to MSNBC but my hopes are dim in that regard.

Thank you, thank you and more thank you for helping out.

Phoon, I'm with you on this. The person who abused the animals and the person in charge of the shelter should both be fired. i don't' give a damn if there are flowers out front. take care of the animals!

:( I read it and I just sent it out to my friends.  Hopefully they will send it out to their friends.

... Phoon, I believe everyone makes a difference,...even casting a tiny pebble causes ripples....Cause and effect...or is it affect... <3

I don't know what to say.  This story crushed me like a bug.  I'll pass it on once my head clears and I can think of a useful place to forward it.  I'm afraid to post it on my Facebook page, because, the few pro-animal people I have as friends are also borderline suicidal.  Thank you for posting this.

Phoon...much karma to you. Thank you for this. I did send it...received from Barb.

It sickened me to know such an angry man is without treatment, and allowed to harm these pitiful creatures.

Phoon old friend, you make a huge difference in this world. Just by taking the action you did, you made a difference. Please don't succumb to the self-anesthesia of futility.

Thank you for your support, it really means alot.

Just to let you know, the "Official" newspaper of the town is really downplaying the issue. I smell very large and widespread rat infestation in this community.

Yeah... it's sad. But I don't really see how anyone could be surprised. Just about every "save the animals!" organization out there is corrupt in some way. From PETA to the HSUS. Honestly, WebGizmos, I don't even know why you would suport the Humane Society... a company that has taken in millions of dollars to run more campaigns and ads to bring in more money. Hell, they don't even operate a single animal shelter, let alone actively work in any way to rescue animals.

They're more interested in making sure you can't have that Father's Day steak or Fourth of July hotdog, or even keep Fido around anymore for that matter.

If you have a bit of time on your hands... you should give this a read. It's long, but after reading it, there's no way anyone could support the HSUS. http://www.activistcash.com/organization_overview.cfm/o/136-humane-society-of-the-united-states

If people want to HELP animals... they should get involved in their local animal shelters. Not send money to God-knows-who sitting behind a desk at some "non-profit" organization.

and activistcash.com is run by The Center For Consumer Freedom, which is a front group for restaurant, alcohol, tobacco and other industries. It runs media campaigns which oppose the efforts of scientists, doctors, health advocates, environmentalists and groups like Mothers Against Drunk Driving, calling them "the Nanny Culture -- the growing fraternity of food cops, health care enforcers, anti-meat activists, and meddling bureaucrats who 'know what's best for you.'"

i think i'd rather support the humane society

I never said I supported the site. But everything posted there can be found through simple research. They just had it all in one place.

I generally stay away from any of those organizations, really. If people are really that concerned about what's going on around them, they can DO something about it. Not cram what's wrong with the world down other people's throats and/or try to destroy business. I won't send money to a place like that.

Please dont let this thread become a political stomping grounds.

Agreed.

I just don't see how anybody could be surprised by it. The last thing any of these people care about are the animals. And yeah, they should be stopped.

Now, what that guy in the article SHOULD be doing, instead of telling people on the internet about what happened... it going door to door telling the residents of that area what has been happening to the animals and having them sign a petition to have the ones responsible fired.

That's what I would do.

Honestly, WebGizmos, I don't even know why you would suport the Humane Society...

Any monetary support I decide to give I make damn sure it gets used for helping animals...I never give money directly to "any" organization. And of course a lot of them can be corrupt...no way to tell for sure unless I see hard evidence...and once that happens I start turning on the lights to flush out he cockroaches. One thing I am not..and that is silent and I really don't care who is on the receiving end. To me titles mean absolutely nothing...actions speak louder than words or titles. I give everyone enough rope to hang themselves and if they do I just pull on the rope. If more people got involved a lot more could be done...but people would rather finds reasons not to get involved since that's easier to do.

You can't not help just because you think or suspect someone or an organization is corrupt...you still have to try. And yeah..it's a thankless job...but someone has to do it and I've been doing all my life...not about to stop now.

I read the linked story... and IF true (meaning I don't believe everything I read, especially on the internet... not to mention this is the "story" of someone I do not know) then I am sickened by this type of behavior.  Absolutely Inexcusable.

Nonetheless, I feel confident saying that IF the story is factual, then that it is the exception and not the rule.  I read a countless number of "He says" and "According to Blitz"'s.

Sure, further investigation is necessary, but this sounds like a He said / She said story (Brandon Blitz vs Darla McCammon)... hell even the witnesses cannot agree on what happened.

Note:  first word in title is ALLEGATIONS.

I understand the need to take action or "do something".  Sometimes, that is exactly what needs to happen, but only when the FACTS support it.

lol yeah... you do have to try.

But just because I don't support the HSUS doesn't mean I don't try to help where I can. I just won't help them when all they do is try to shut down everybody, including the honest people.

Narbytrout,

I agree in your outlook of the He said /she said theory, but in this case I firmly believe this story is true. A - The comments section is riddled with stories of this man doing these things. B - It's a relatively small town. I know people that know this man and can attest to his demeanor and the corruption of the people above him as well.
