Ultimate Edition CTD when cheats are enabled?

Hey folks... I went to enable cheats today to screw around with some stuff, but upon clicking New Game or Load Game in the main menu, the game crashes to desktop.

The shortcut I'm using is "C:\Program Files (x86)\Stardock Games\GalCiv2Ultimate\Twilight\GC2TwilightOfTheArnor.exe" cheat

Instead of loading up with the "Ultimate Edition" menu screen, it looks like the original Dread Lords menu screen, but the section where it would say "Galactic Civilizations II: Dread Lords" is missing. Seems like something is getting munged up from bypassing GC2Launch.exe

Anyone else having this issue, or have any suggestions to fix it? I tried to search around for it, but couldn't find anything.

Yeah, I'd like to thank the very helpful jackass who gave me a referral to "google.com"

As I mentioned in the OP, I have not been able to find any solutions to this problem (or really anybody else having this same issue) by searching.

The correct argument is "cheat" (singular), not cheats. Also if you just made the shortcut, make sure that the run-in path is set correctly.

Thank you for a reasonable answer.

The OP was actually a typo. I did type "cheat" in the command line, and the Run In path is accurate.

If that's the case, then the issue probably isn't related to the cheat argument at all. Please open your debug.err file in notepad, and copy/paste the contents into a post here. This will give us some technical information that can help troubleshoot your problem. The location you'll find the debug.err in varies depending on which game you're playing:

Dread Lords: My Documents\My Games\GalCiv2
Dark Avatar: My Documents\My Games\GC2DarkAvatar
Twilight of the Arnor: My Documents\My Games\GC2TwilightArnor

Older versions may store the debug directly in the location the game is installed at.

Be sure to copy the debug immediately after the error occurs; if you start the game again, the debug will be erased and recreated for the new session.

Sorry for the couple days in between here. I was at a family function, and just got around to getting online again...

Anyway, after my last post I ended up just reinstalling the game, and that seems to have done the trick. I guess I just had a corrupt file in there somewhere.

Thanks for the help!
