Ok so first of all https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/378149 <--GO HERE.    Read EVERYTHING on this mod, or skim and just dl it.   This mod changes NOTHING IN GAME-PLAY. The mod however DOES reduce loading time, makes that nasty bogging down of lag after an hour of play move to about 3 hours or four. It works for lower and HIGHER end systems because the game itself has the limit. You can argue all day till your blue in the face about your comp being high end and it not effecting you but we all know it does. MINES AND STRIKE CRAFT NO LONGER MAKE YOUR GAME TURN INTO A LAG FEST (that's what sold me honestly.) Just click the link,dl the mod, and TRY IT. go on a 10 person FFA with vicious comps for about 20 mins and surrender and look around at the planets covered in mines at the least, the lag is virtually gone.

I assume that the Optimization mod works the same as other mods--people can't join unless they have it enabled and if you have it enabled you can't join games without it, just as with custom maps.

However, if it really works, then I'm all for it.  We just need lots of regular players to get on board.

Unfortunately, they put the file up at what appears to be an awful place.  To get the file you have to register an account and then you're limited to 150 mb/hour (the file is 196 mb).  My visceral response was, "No thanks".  There's gotta be a better place to put this file, somewhere.

there's a "download with basic" button right next to the sign up one, that's how I dled it... it's near the bottom, one button says"Join now and DL with premium blah blah blah sales pitch" then is says "Or" and then "Download with basic free etc. wait half a minute to begin dl" button

 

<edit> and then on the latter pages there's a few more links through a few more hosted sources like Adrive and the such

Looks like Sivcorp and I are taking over (by request of the Major). I have made a developer account so we can keep the mod updated and Major has the account and password if he decides to rejoin or share anything.

Above is the latest download.

BTW- The mod can be stacked onto most other mods or use it as the building block of a new mod. NO PERMISSION REQUIRED.

Thats correct and above is a much better host with optimized sounds and music

Ok i enabled the diplomacy one but i see no difference in performance at all.

EDIT: I see the performance was pretty good when watching replays. Good thing this mod works with replays without mod

 

Game after 1 hour test: I see a difference in the performances now and fps increase, I hope that sins patch will make the game optimized as this, or even more.

TOP does not really change anything. You can put it in and play an old saved game as well. Try playing a large game, when the game starts to lag, save it, enable mod, load saved game and see the difference.
