Polynese-style Tattoos

Polynese Style Tattoos v0.1

This is an... *ahem*... "complete" mod for Elemental, and by complete, I mean you can load it right now and you can use it. All you need to do is upload the file into your Elemental/GFX/HKB/Unit_KingdomMale folder and rename the Polynese Skin to  a skin you don't think you'll like. SAVE A BACKUP FIRST. Unfortunately, you can't just drop in new skins at this point.

(note: to me this looks a misaligned, but I've checked and I don't think it's asymmetric... I think it's just the angle of the screenshot. I could be wrong, however.)

This is just something I did in my spare time, more designed for practice and to cut my teeth on modding, while conceivably being useful to people. Before I start really getting cracking on my more serious and ambitious projects I want to at least have an idea of what I'm doing, so I'll probably be cracking out a few more "mini-mods" in the same sort of vein as this.

FUTURE PLANS

-2 more male variations, another "warrior" type tattoo and an older priest type.

-At least 1 female tattoo.

-There are probably ways to make the tattoos look less pixellated and more "nice".

Download currently not available, as I don't know the legal implications of uploading something which is basically %99 not my own work.

Now you force me to do silly tests with skins...>:( ;P

Seems that the Tigran Alliance will jump from Galactic CIvilizations 2 to Elemental (mini test skin right now though):

Lol, well I found out why the tattoos aren't aligned... it's not an issue of symmetry of the tattoo, it's that the face texture itself is just slightly off center... lol. If you look closely at the mouth of the M Handsome Skin, it's literally a pixel off center of the nose... unnoticeable and irrelevant normally, but becomes an issue when you're doing tiny detail work such the kind you'd expect to see in a Polynese tattoo. Don't get me wrong, the base skin textures are awesome textures.

Still, the perfectionist in me wants to alter the skin texture to make it perfect, and for a-holes like me it's never perfect enough...

Great stuff!!! Progress, Mmmmm. What programs did you use to open the file and do the editing?

Just GIMP, really. I'm a freehand drawer if I can possibly help it.

On a separate note, the newest version had newer, niftier skins. I'm hoping that Stardock will constantly keep my work obsolete by adding additional customizations and options as they just did with the eyes. I'll bet that mouths are next :star:
