Bad hard drive need replacing and advise on what to look for personal gaming specifics

File size is roughly 530 MB so I have good reasons for deleting it. I even have it installed and running fine. But this is the download file and would not delete because each time I attempt something it came up with crc error. Which is odd since I did virtually nothing to it until I remember that I don't need it anymore after running it once *installer*.

What have tried so far:

Delete/copy/rename under DOS

Delete/copy under Window XP SP 3

Using the MoveonBoot came up with CRC error

Right click and click "run as" come up with Screen "Which of the accounts you want to run file as?" *use the only one admin account* result in CRC error

I am trying defrag/hard drive error scanning but I don't expect a miracle.

Searching for file with persist crc error came up empty hand. http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&client=firefox-a&hs=Js7&rls=org.mozilla%3Aen-GB%3Aofficial&q=cyclic+redundancy+check+error&aq=f&aqi=g6g-c1g3&aql=&oq=&gs_rfai=

Mostly refering to bad copy of dvd/cd etc... but not a file that you can not read or delete.

Could defrag cause this somehow? I am way over my head in this territory.

If your looking to replace the Hard Drive, it would help to know what your budget is.

I personally am now using a Solid State Drive (OCZ Agility 128 SSD) for my OS and Programs and a Seagate 500 Gb Hard Drive for storage of "stuff".  I will now forever be using SSD's for my OS and programs they are sooooo fast it's sickening, and no moving parts (less/ no breakdowns).

If you need to know which file it were. http://www.fileplanet.com/204655/200000/fileinfo/League-of-Legends-Client-%28US-Only%29

Interesting before it became "unreadable" it gain 30 extra mb no wonder. Beside I am not worried about that one since I can just redownload it later.

I had to turn off my primary computer *try to not make it any worse until i can copy files* and use an older computer to post this.

Those solid state hard drive look interesting but I was thinking more of a regular one terrabyte hard drive with 7200 rpm or so. I had 460 mb hard drive and I had plans to update this summer or later but pushing that up earlier.

I am thinking of something like this with good buffer and high capacity of storage. I don't really have a budget but would like to keep it lower than 100 dollar if possible. If none of the store around here has this one in stock I might just order from newegg.

If your worried about data loss and still want some extra speed go for 4 250 mb drives set up in raid 10. Make sure your motherboard supports it first though.

.. you get data backup and double the read speed this way...Writing to the drive will be regular speed.  You will only have 500 mb to use however...

This is the best deal I could vfind for that setup... this will cost you about 180$  but you wont lose your data again

That an interesting idea using 4 hard drive but I am not at my computer nor anywhere nearby to check. I remember it only had 2-3 extra Sata plug no idea about the motherboard/cpu. I already plan to use an external hard drive that has an automatic backup feature on top of my soon to be replaced internal hard drive. The external hard drive will not be used as the main one but to back up data. I am not too worried about speed my previous hard drive was 460 mb *don't recall rpm/buffer* but the one I linked I am sure has more of everything. I don't plan to keep my motherboard for a long time *only two ram slots ddr2* memory shortage need for window 7 in the soon future.
