Sins Machinima: Elmina Chronicles

I love playing Sins, and I love watching machinima, so I put them both together and made what I believe is the first Sins machinima series. If there are others, please let me know, I've been searching for one for a long time now. This game is so perfect for making a machinima, I don't see why nobody else has taken advantage of it other than making music videos.

Episode 1 was a sort of "for the luls" thing. It was really just a random battle with bad camera angles. However episode 2 is much better and organized, and even features some voice acting which I've been told is pretty decent. If you don't like the first one, at least try the second one because I tried a lot harder in that episode.

Episode 2: The Ganna Encounter

Please comment and tell me what you think. If you like them, feel free to subscribe, I'm working on episode 3 right now which should be done within a few days. And if you hate them, also feel free to flame the hell out of this thread lol. I can take some constructive criticism btw, so be honest about what you think.

Agreed.  When's # 3 gonna come out?

What do you use to record the screen. I tried a couple programs like Camtasia Studio but its a little choppy. Probably my system needs more ram or video.

Great work. I might tone down the speech a bit and turn up the effects a little. Other than that great editing.

Awesome stuff, though you should consider using Bailknight's graphic mod to enhance the prettiness of it. If there were a way you could make your voice deeper as well that would improve the overall effect, but keep the voice in either way.

Yeah, the voice is what really sells it.

I used the full version of Fraps to record. Yeah, you gotta pay for it, but that ten bucks (?) is worth it to get that "Fraps.com" logo off your screen.

I did use Bailknight's mod in episode 2. I didn't use it for the first because like I said, I wasn't really too series with that one.

As for my voice. With my current editing software, I can only do four voices. I don't want to get too carried away with editing and have tons of phony voices that sound stupid, so I'm going to solve my problem a different way. I am going to begin searching for voice actors. If anyone would like to help out, you can post or message me about it. Just know that if you're honestly bad, I can't accept you. I mean I'm not the best either, but I don't want my quality to plummet to the level of a generic Halo machinima. I'm also recruiting people to help me act out the battles by controlling the other fleets. I have one person from youtube who said he would help, but I'll need more people eventually.

As for episode 3, that'll be done once I add voice to it which I can do myself for this episode. Until then, enjoy this extremely short trailer which barely reveals anything other than me whining for voice actors.

I was thinking of making a movie for my upcoming Sins of Humanity mod. It will include 100s of real military missions radio chatter sound bytes. I have been collecting and editing these for some time and maybe now have enough to complete all the frigates, cruisers and strike craft (my favorites). Preview here.

After weeks of searching I found another good alternative radio chat commands for the Capital Ships in games like Battlefield Desert Combat, Command and Conquer and more.

I have been trying, like you, to add a good radio effect to my voice to supplement these sounds as like a fleet commander with some good results but I don't like the sound of my own voice lol. It just sounds weird coming out of the game.

Also have a good sountrack collection coming with tracks from BSG, 300, Troy and Black Hawk Down. All with the same seemless feel. Preview here.

Not nearly all file are up for preview as there still being worked on. You are welcome to any of these files or some sound editing work.

Thanks for those links, but I don't think I'll be using those. Though with my lack of voice actors (still just me) I might have to resort to using some eventually.

Anyway, episode 3 is finally here!

I just uploaded it a minute before posting, so if it isn't processed yet just try again in a few minutes. I like how this turned out, but I still like episode 2 more overall. Expect episode 4 within about 2-3 weeks maybe. I want to make a spin off episode in between that though, and that shouldn't be too hard considering what I'm going to do, so that should be out pretty soon actually, maybe in 1 week.

This series is the best serious machinima I have ever seen, although I've not seen many.

Stupid part 3 isn't processing yet, argh

3 episodes and its the best you've seen? Lol, well, I'll take that I guess. Better than everyone telling me I suck at least.

Good work on the vids!  Sins needs more vids to compete with those EvE folks.  :banhammer:

I like this idea.  As I was listening to the OP video's chatter, the same thought was coming to me:  it's too clean.  Real military chatter has all sorts of background noise and beeps and such do to security, compression, etc.  Add those to the chatter and it sounds so much more authentic.

Hmm...I might like to try and make a vid one day using those sound bites.  Thanks for the link!
