Since DNF has been in development since 1997, I believe it will be released on Doom's day at approximately never hundred hours. Or something like that.

On the day that the 2012 end of the world thing happens. You will get only 20 minutes to play it before everything ends.

What would be hilarious is if it is actually released and the graphics look exactly like Duke Nukem 3D.

Duke Nukem?  Release date?  The release date is the final word of the name.

I thought 3D Realms had closed up shop. Did someone else pick up the development?

If so I'll say Aug, 2015 Just for the hell of it :)

No, Duke Nukem Forever will always be a running joke no matter how (far away) the release date is.

Long enough to realize what a waste it's been waiting for it and write an angry post on the forums.

Frankly, I don't know what they could possibly do with DNF.  Although it was one of the early adopters of the FPS alien-shooter genre, its original premise is now so cliche and overdone that it'd be suicide to stick to the original.  I don't see it achieving anything noteworthy.

I know I'd play it (eventually) only for the crude adult humour, the strippers and Duke's classic one-liners...Sure it's lie any other FPS, but Duke got personality, instead of being yet another voiceless, faceless protsagonist like every other FPS..even when they do have a voice, they suck most of the time

From the leaked Footage of DNF that hit YouTube shortly after 3D Realms closed down, I think its safe to say that Duke would've done away with the pretenders to his throne (Serious Sam, I'm looking at you). Having said that, it would never be as good as it needs to be to warrant the 13 year development cycle it received. However, considering how much money was poured into DNF - and the fact that signs of life from 3D Realms were emerging just before its closure - I couldn't imagine we've heard the last from the Duke. One of gamings last remaining traditions continues: waiting for the Duke.
