Star Trek Supremacy | Open Source 4x Space Strategy Game

Star Trek Supremacy is a 4x space strategy game being developed by Mike Strobel. It is a Non-commercial Open Source project that will be made available for free to the public. The game is not licensed by the Star Trek franchise, it is a title being developed by an independent developer as an hobby.

Supremacy picks up from the classic Microprose titleStar Trek Birth of the Federation, a.k.a. Star Trek: BOTF. Supremacy’s intention is to be a BOTF’s rightful successor. Sometimes Supremacy is also known in the community as Star Trek Birth of Federation 2 (BOTF2).

The Alpha release I had access to (0.4.3427.36588) is very stable for the 65 turns or such that I played at least. There are lots of missing information, content and many UI enhancements yet to be implemented for sure but albeit all of that I enjoyed playing.

Did an overview post about Supremacy in SpaceSector.com: http://www.spacesector.com/blog/2010/01/star-trek-supremacy-open-source-free-game-in-development/

Also did an interview with Mike regarding Supremacy: http://www.spacesector.com/blog/2010/02/interview-with-mike-strobel-star-trek-supremacy-lead-developer/

Enjoy!

Cheers

I still play the first BOTF, very fun, only bad thing ever about the game is the memory leak as you get past you're 100th turn.

I also really enjoyed BOTF ages ago.   I checked out Supremacy a year ago and it looked very promising.  Good to hear he is still chipping away at it.

Looks like Mike still has a lot of work ahead. He plans to reach Alpha next year and then endure one more year in Alpha. It's going to take him a few more years to release Supremacy. Maybe some more hands can help him speed up things a little. He's specially looking for people with interest and talent in graphics and music composition.

I've been following Supremacy's development for a long time now.  As an avid (if not rabid) BOTF fan, the game's completion and release is a consummation devoutly to be wished!

Dude, even if they remade Armada 2 with better graphics and better ai and more weapons and maps, I would buy it even if it cost $50
