Nice of them to tell everyone, I'm sure countries on a budget would like their own supercomputer.
Unless its a trick and using PS3's is designed to throw people off, and the real supercomputer is being built in secret from Wii's......
Wasn't there a rumour that Saddam Hussien was trying to pull the same trick, except with PS2s?
I'm guessing whatever cost benifits they get from using mass produced consoles will be wasted in cooling/power bills. At least a purpose built supercomputer is efficient; the heat generated by this thing could probably start nuclear fusion!
Some universities have been using PS3 for some time to run complex models and such. Its much more cost effective to buy 2-3 PS3 and link them together than to rent 1 hours of supercomputer time.
Have you heard the rumor about iPhones?
They have the capability to link together and process information in the backround of what your doing. Lots of them out there, controlled by the cool Apple overlords...
Ah, I just made that up. 
The real cause of global warming?
Haven't you seen T3? The supercomputers are a whole lot of commodore64's linked together ready to defend the earth in a fallout shelter somewhere below the desert.
oh, and they got sharks with freakin lazer beams on their heads too....
