Can Not Run Beta

I have not been able to run the last several beta releases.  I have had crash issues:

------

The following has happened during the last couple of releases, but did not occur on the first two beta releases:

I start a new Elemental game, choosing all defaults.  Without moving from the start location I click on the build town.  Then answer Ok, twice.  The town appears, then Elemental crashes.  (Out of several trys, one time there was not a crash, instead the video update rate was about two frames per second.)

------

I submitted two cases (for two different beta releases) on this:  Case 71650 and case 72203.  (Which include the asked for DxDiag, Debug.err and memory dump.)

It has been months since I could try the beta and I really would like to try it again.  Any suggestions?

I couldn't find your cases via http://fogbugz.stardock.com/default.asp?pg=pgPublicViewForm in Opera. I have a couple of cases with numbers in that range, and I can find them with the links from the system email.

If you shared URLs directly to your debug.err files, you might get some suggestions from external testers who know how to read those files. (I couldn't help, but some folks in this beta crowd seem very familiar with Stardock debug.err files as well as general PC gaming problems.)

Well, I'm not in the beta, but some general tips....

Run in admin mode.

Try different resolutions (not sure if this is an option)

if you post your debug file it would really help, both me and the people who actually know what they are doing. :)

Here is the URL for the two trouble tickets.  Any suggestions on running the latest beta would be wonderful.

Well, as I said I haven't gotten in the beta yet. But I notice you get several errors for not locating materials. Have you tried redownloading and reinstalling? Also if you have customized your graphics settings please go by a default setting (Low, Medium, High) If you havent customized it try manually lowering resolution and or other settings.

Once again, I really wish I could be more help but I'm trying to debug a game I've never even seen in action.

Lowering the resolution 'fixed' the issue. I haven't yet determined the maximum resolution that will work, just that 1920x1200 doesn't work. I'll also try lowering some of the video settings to see if that will 'fix' 1920x1200. With all of that said, other modern games (Like Dragon Age Origins) work fine at 1920x1200. I hope this is just a bug or optimization issue that gets fixed during the beta. Thank you for the help.

No problem, I'm glad to help. Have you tried using 1920*1200 with other games? If other games run it just fine on you computer but this one does not then it is likely an issue with the game that will be resolved by the developers. You should report it as a bug to stardock.

Some folks have reported that the game runs for them if they turn antialiasing off. Have you tried that?

Yes the real trouble was the antialiasing.  With antialiasing turned off 1920x1200 works well.

Thanks
