Seriously

Is it just me or does it seem that people can accept the fact that many things were inspired by other stuff? One of the best example is the anime Naruto. It has many bases and many references in it, and many people dislike it for it. Another, which is easier reconized by americans; is the anime dragon ball. It has characters inspired by the movies/stories terminator and frankienstien, and yet many people seem to dislike this. Even though the story don't revolve around them.

Original ideas have seemed to have run dry, these days.

Everything seems to be either based on past ideas, or simple remakes of the originals.

Maybe that could be accredited to the current educational systems that tend to teach what to think, as opposed to teaching how to think?

In the humanities that's called scientific discourse and considered progress.

I don't have a problem with "inspired" stories, as long they are no 1 to 1 copy of some other work. I once read a book that was a plain transcription of The Lord of the Rings at a level where I wondered how they managed to publish the book without a law suit. That book definitely went too far, but otherwise I'm not too strictly insisting on new ideas (which often just means it's copied from a time which nobody remembers anymore)
