Trying again - Please Help - Creating and saving new colors for skins in WB7

My son, Mirsguy, told me to ask a question here to see if anyone can help.  I'm thinking maybe I didn't ask the question very well the first time since I got no response.  So I'll try again.

I love the Window Blind he created, Miricla.  In WB6 I could change the color, of course, and if I liked the color I could save it.  I had about 7 or 8 colors saved.  When I upgraded to WB7 those colors disappeared and I was left with the default blue.  I can change the color to any color I desire and use it but I can find no way to save multiple colors.  If I go into 'Change System Skin Colors' it will change the default skin to the new color, but that is the only color I can use unless I click on 'recover original'.  Why would Stardock take away such a functional thing as being able to save colors??  Unless there is a way to do it that I can't figure out.

Can someone please try to answer this and help me??

Thanks so much!

Hi jb0615 and Mirsguy,

Do you have Skin Studio by any chance?  If so, you could change the color in WB 7, open it in Skin Studio and then save the skin with a new name such as Miricla_1, Miricla_2, etc.  Skin Studio 7 is still in beta and it is not integrated with WB 7 yet.  That should happen pretty soon.  For now you have to open Skin Studio 7 separately from WB then you can save the skin with the new color.  FYI Skin Studio 6 is not compatible with WB 7. If you have Skin Studio 6, you can upgrade to version 7 for $9.95.  Otherwise, if Mirsguy has Skin Studio 7, use his computer, change the color and then save it.  You can always burn the copies to a DVD or copy them to a thumb drive.

Not sure if this answers your question but it's the only way I know to save the different colrs as new skins.

Hi, Cameochi,

Thanks for your response!  Yes, I do have Skin Studio as part of my Object Desktop suite, and I just upgraded to Skin Studio 7 Professional through Impulse.  After looking at Skin Studio 7 for a while I realize that I will need at least a week to learn the program since I know nothing about it. Either that or maybe, Brian, you can show me how to do it.   |-)   I do, however, think it's a poor move on Stardock's part to take that feature away from WindowBlinds 7.  You know, like they say, if it's not broken, don't fix it.  So, although I am impressed with many of the features that have been added to the new WB7, I am kinda bummed by what they have taken away.

I guess you can add me to the list of those who would like to roll back to WB6. :S

Making substyles is not a viable solution. Hopefully Neil will pop his head in here and give us a little insight toward a solution. :) :-"

Mirsguy, Neil, Cameochi......here's a big thank you and an update.  I think I was making this harder than I needed to.  I assumed I had to learn Skin Studio 7 and change the color there.  I don't, of course, and that's probably what you were trying to tell me Cameochi.

I copied Miricla and gave it a new name, and it magically appeared in WB7.  Then I colored the skin in WB7.  Now had I only done it once I'd be posting this message much earlier in the evening.  But I did it multiple times, got all my favorite colors back and then some.  And I think I may like this way better.  Each skin copy is it's own skin and there's less chance of deleting a color accidentally like I would sometimes do in WB6.

So, all's well that ends well.  Roll back to WB6.....Nah!   And, Brian, aren't you glad you don't have to teach me Skin Studio 7??   ;)

Yup. Don't hardly know it myself.
