If 'Cease Fire' is selected turn off 'Auto Attack' Automatically!

Ok, this one is a little tricky.

While playing Diplomacy I had several scouts of the empire I was thinking of setting up a diplomatic relation with flying around heavily defended systems under my control.  As I pressed 'Cease Fire' option most of my defences had shot and destroyed his scouts and ships that were in my space - since the AI does not respond to the cease fire straight away is it possible to stop all auto targeting of said empire when you press the cease fire option.

The reason for my asking is that it would be a near impossible feat of micro-management to turn off all my defences manually while trying to set up a cease fire and then turn them back on again to attack the empires your at war with.

It also makes it very difficult for them to forgive you after blasting a small fleet away by over keen defences.

well, it's a beta, i'm sure they will fix it when it comes out.  it's broken and does not work very well, that's why it's a beta

Shooting down scouts shouldn't worsen your standing, this was changed a while ago and should be preserved in Diplomacy, unless there's an actual bug where it still treats shooting down scouts as a military action penalty.

Yeah, if killing scouts didn't hurt you much in entrenchment they shouldn't hurt you much in diplomacy, could definitely be a bug though if it's still happening. Be sure to keep us posted with any other weird happenings.

I'm pretty sure that in my game, shooting down enemy scouts WAS giving me a military action penalty, all I was doing is defending my planets and his scouts kept dieing on my defenses and my relation was falling with them.

I'll look into this then and see what I can find.
