1.2 Bug: Destroyed Towers respawning on Zigurat

Couldn't believe it when I saw it.  I'm not sure what the catalyst was, we happened to hit war rank 6 at the same time.

Was a 2v2 on Ziggurat, pantheon, with 1 AI on the opponent team.  I had just destroyed several of their towers.  Suddenly, a few of them spontaneously respawned, right in front of me, with full health.

I've attached the replay: The incidient occurs between 12 minutes and 13 minutes in.

Edit: Pacov seems to have looked into this and concluded that certain towers were not spawning until late in the game.  I originally thought certain towers that I had destroyed were regenerating: this does not seem to be the case.  Instead, certain towers seem to not exist, and then suddenly come into play.

Uhh... you do get new buildings when you hit certain warranks. Not sure about Zikkurat but I know you do on other maps :D

 

Though they are typiclaly forts, not towers

Hmm... look at his replay at the very beginning of the match.... look at the dark side portals... ok... now look a the dark side gold flag nearest to the portals... compare this to the light side.  The dark side has 1 extra tower compared to light...

look further... between the dark side portal and gold flag... there is another missing tower.

I think i may have found another map issue... will check it out in detail later.

Zikurat on dominate...

at the 12 min marker... two of these missing towers appear on dark side... that what you consider the tower regen... but these are towers you never knocked down.

Def a bug.

How many patches will it take before there are no towers at all on Zikurat? :D

It seems fixing the Valor flag on Zikurat on the Dark side in Fortress mode has gone horribly wrong o_O

Just to reiterate - missing towers DO NOT regenerate.  They simply spawn later than they should.  And I think they may have been an issue long before the fix went in and perhaps we never noticed.  I remember some time back wondering why a non archer tower spawned when it did but forgot about it. 

Due to the missing towers location, its not a huge issue until later in the game, but its still an issue.  I didn't check, but would anyone mind watching the replay to see what the warscore is when the towers spawn around the 11-12 min marker?

They appear at warrank 4. It's normal. Unless we are talking about different towers here... maybe provide some screenshots?

not looking into this further atm.  The replay in the OP makes it clear what I'm talking about.  I'll look this up again later if no one else has found the time.

Well, the good news is that if you need those tower before war rank 4 you are not likely to win that game anyway...

hehe.  Fair point.  So, it is war rank 4 then.  If that's the case, then it still needs to be fixed, but isn't all that game breaking.

So Zikurat is identified as map07. The file that specifies the location of objects in the maps seems to be Map##_save.lua. However, the file begins with a huge "Automatically generated code (do not edit) " warning. This being the case, does anyone know what file we should look into?

If I would have to guess I would think that that there is a source file that the SDK uses to generate the Map##_save.lua file, and that we don't have access to it. However, this is just a guess. Anyone know anything more?

You can edit it. If you mess up the syntax it just causes the game to crash. I have made MaxScript that generate mapfiles but they don't have full functionality yet.
