Prayers needed

Hey WC community... I know this is a great place to get people together praying for someone, so I have a request.  My wife is a teacher, and one of her former students was attacked and beaten while walking home from picking up a pizza.  He is in ICU with head trauma, and swelling/bleeding on the brain.  He is in very critical condition.  His name is Chris Kernich, he's 23 years old and was one of my wife's favorite students ever.  A really great kid.  I can't imagine why this happened to him, but please pray for him and his family.... thank you.

He's got mine, RPGFX. The violence in this world is horrific. Sorry he was a victim. If only what happened to others was experienced by the perpetrator, I believe there'd be a dramatic decline in the level of this deplorable violence.

Hope Chris makes a full and speedy recovery, my thoughts go out to his family at this terrible time.

I deplore senseless violence and my heart and thoughts go out to this young man.

A few years ago I was assaulted by someone I worked with and had to have surgery to repair some severe facial injuries, so I know what it's like and hope this youing man's recovery is swift and complete,

Here is a small update.  Today at the hospital his mother said she felt like he was slipping away, but he continues to hang on.  Below is a link to our local newspaper article of the incident if anyone wants to read it...

Oh no, let's hope and pray that Chris will not succumb to his injuries and pulls through.

Keep fighting Chris, don't let this thing win.

Our local news just did a small story on him.  The only update on his condition is that he is in critical condition, and in a coma, which I assume he was already, so not much has changed.  As far as what happened, things are a bit more clear.  Chris and 2 of his friends were walking home from picking up a pizza late Saturday night when a car full of guys leaving a club nearly hit them as it pulled out of the parking lot.  Chris or one of his friends said something to the effect of "watch what you're doing buddy".  Instead of leaving, the car pulled over down the road and waited for Chris and his friends.  They jumped out and attacked them.  Chris was basically left for dead as his friends got away.  Students in a nearby frat house saw what was going on and called the police and paramedics.  2 guys have been arrested as a result of the frat guys being witnesses.

Thanks again for the thoughts and prayers...

Some news... unfortunately, it's not good news.  They tested his brain activity this morning, and got zero response.  They are flushing his body with fluids to remove all medications from his system, and they are going to test his brain activity again.  But right now it seems he is brain dead.  He will need a miracle.

Oh no, that's awful news!  I can't imagine what his family and friends are going through right now.  They have a small thread of hope but it is dwindling away.  That is so, so sad and my thoughts are with them.  It's no wonder I deplore violence so much, it is senseless and hurts innocent families like this.

Well my wife just got a call about an hour ago... Chris has died.  He was a great kid, and his passing will be felt deep in our local community.  Please pray for his parents...

What a terrible waste of life: The single most precious thing any of us has.

What a tragedy for his parents. The saddest event in this world is for a parent to bury a child.

My heart goes out to them. May they find the strength to go on and find meaning for the rest of their lives.
