Skinning Aero!

If you have Object Desktop, you can get it now.  If not, you can purchase Object Desktop here.

IF you have Windows 7 THEN you should definitely get Object Desktop RIGHT NOW (though it’s pretty awesome on XP and Vista as well).

It's about time!

Now we can move beyond these XP-era themes into a new world of skinning bliss.

It works great for explorer, but not for anything else that uses more aero than just the window borders. For example, I use an extension for firefox that allows for the entire chrome of Firefox to use the aero window decorations. When using WB even though explorer looks good, firefox is unusable because the window border is all that is drawn. The URL bar, personal bar, menu bar, etc. are all totally transparent.

Have you tried a UIS0 skin?

That's really good but...

MS Office and MS Excel 2007 still not work after update (the known problem with top panel of windows frame). As well as Windows Calculator (APPCRASH after pressing/mouseover any button) and Windows Explorer which stops to work and need to be reloaded from time to time. As a result it was necessary to put these programs to the list of exclusions in the WB Settings.
:(

P.S. I don't use the Aero Skins...

Are you sure you have not excluded office apps?  The issue with them was resolved.  Please check the version number shown in the WB about window.  It should be build 226.

I have also checked Calc and cannot reproduce any crashes in that either.

Yes, my WB is updated to 226. And thank you Neil! The problem is solved. It was my damned new video driver. Now I've rolled it back to the previous version and WB is working perfect!

EDIT: No more any problems!!!!!

What video driver had you installed?

Driver was for Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express (version 8.15.10.1930 for Win-7). The problem is that I had no enough money to buy new PC for Windows 7 (I've found it but it costs too much... about $3500 in my country...). So I'm compelled to work on my old ThinkPad T61 and update all of its drivers.

This driver has much improved my WEI (the game graphics from 3.1 to 4.0) but seems it doesn't work with WB. So I will not use it because I never play the Games on the PC...

It's interesting but after applying several updates and tweaks for Windows-7 the driver began to work correctly together with WB. And very quickly! So I'm totally happy now!
