Last Expansion?

On both IGN and I think on Impulse it mentions that this is the last micro-expansion. Wasn't there supposed to be a third one? With new technologies and ships I think?

the plans, they changed.

diplomacy is the last MICRO expansion, no mention for OR against non-micro expansions so there is a small amount of hope that there will be a large expansion, but NO word beyond the lack of information

I'm hoping for a Sins-2 that would keep the same game play and pretty much same balance between the factions but with a new race or two and an improved online multiplayer user interface and features and content from the expansions.  They'd also need to add in a campaign to justify the Sins-2 part.  Hopefully it would have dramatically higher player counts for online multiplayer.

It's ashamed. I would be very happy paying for microexpansions that continue to affect gameplay and improve the product. I just don't know if a software company could prosper on micro transactions alone. My fear is if they stop doing microexpansions and start to work on a Sins-2 there may be a long delay before we see a product. During this delay, many people will move on to other products and Ironclad may have some strong competition in the RTS space genre when Sins-2 finally comes out (ie Homeworld 3?)

I agree. At that pace, if they need 1 year for a micro-expansion you can estimate 2 years for a mini-expansion, 4 years for a normal expansion and 8 years for a full game.

I'm sure they could find a way to delay the release of a Sins-2 so that it is released at a strategic time when there aren't any other high profile competing RTS's or other higher profile games coming out.

Im surprised by the move but tbh it always confused me about what they could possibly do with a 3rd expansion. adding more fleets/firepower to the game would undo anything done in Entrenchment.

I would have liked more in-depth capital ship battles (subsystems etc.) but alas.

You also have to remember the game's road map for microexpansions was pre-recession. Something had to give. Stardock has had to adapt to a shifting market.

Yeah, I got the "last micro expansion" email and thought "hey, there was supposed to be 3".

Havent played in a few months, but still regard SoaSE as the best game on my HD.  Was looking forward to the 3rd expansion actually, as I'm not that interested in diplomacy, though I will buy it.

So...no word on the 3rd expansion, a possible sequel instead of an expansion, or a "major expansion" yet?  All of the above would be great, and I'll gladly purchase what is released.
