Can't help you there. I'm not focused on squat. I mean, aside from being Jewish, I'm not all that big on nailing or having had someone nailed to a piece of wood. Wasn't necessary for the Buddha, right?

Well Jesus needed to die in order to cover over Adamic sin. Plus the manner in which he did (very painfully) should how far he was will to take it.

Easter focuses on his being risen, which while wonderful, missed the point of his being here.

depends on your view point. yes it was a execution, but the theological point of it was to atone for humanities sins by giving his life, thus sacrifice.
