Probably was a murder suicide except he couldn't shoot himself so he got the cops to shoot him.  Suicide by cop.  I don't think he even bothered to consider the traffic delays.  Deranged people typically don't.

You're lucky in the sense that you get so worked up over traffic delays.  Gridlock is a twice a day or more occurrence here in and around LA and most of us just deal with it as a fact of life and are numb to it's mental attack.  Hell I remember driving up the 101 into Hollywood one time and traffic was all backed up for no reason at all and I drove approximately 1 mile over the span of 1 hour.  I'll let you do the math on how fast the average speed was.  That specific example is the worst I've ever been in, but typical days aren't usually much better.  Average 15 to 20 miles per hour on the busy freeways and highways.  That's just life for us in SoCal.  We enjoy our vast parking lot network.

Houston is just as messed up with traffic, but when someone compounds the problem, it doesn't make us any happier. Of course, we have the firepower to both make sure the cops don't get all the fun and keep the zombies at bay. I myself have enough ammunition to take out over 5000 zombies if I don't waste a shot.
