Ah, one of the great misconceptions of quantum mechanics.

It's under the assumption that superpositions are even necessary. We tend to think in relative terms, cause it's easier than allowing units to stand on their own. I think the dependency that quantum mechanics sometimes puts on the observer is foolish. Einstein's general theory of relativity does that, although in itself it is a still an amazing leap in observational theory. Quantum mechanics has broken away from the necessity of the observer since the cat, but still hasn't broken free or made peace with the macrocosmic constants which Einstein's theory lays out, and which quantum mechanics fail to describe on their own. Although I will not claim to be one of the amazingly few people to fully understand Heim's theory branching quantum mechanics with general relativity, I will say that I am a fan of the general principles and support those attempting to continue his work. If his theories pan out in practical application, it not only opens the doors to quantum drive mechanics, but also gives us subspace. Imagine seeing everything in Star Trek actually becoming reality, although not all at once. What's really messed up is that this guy was working out the mathematics immediately after WWII.

Truth is in the eye of the seer.  What one believes, to them, will always be the truth, because they believe it.  There can be no "Ultimate Truth", because it's impossible for us as a race to believe the same thing.

I think it is possible, but I think we have to be far ahead of where we are, in every aspect. As for what we think versus can prove, I think having a vivid imagination is amazingly important. We do need to prove things. That's what technology functions on, but every invention ever known has been a product of imagination and necessity. We need light, but until someone could think beyond the flame, we couldn't achieve the lightbulb.

I would never put one above the other, because they are mutually beneficial.

Actually, I feel that belief is more dangerous than organized religion. Aside from teh inevitability of people organizing their common beliefs, I think the root of said bloodshed is in the adamant mindset of the people within that religion, a mindset I have seen in non-denominational and aetheist alike.

As for imagination and proof, I feel it's a two way road. If you imagine a tv, but can not successfully construct the mechanism, it's a fool's errand. But if you have the mathematical and technical skill to construct one, but can not fathom such an object, you'll fail to make anything all the same. Xerox actually invented one of the earliest fax machines, but sold the rights off because they just couldn't figure out how it would be useful to transmit a visual image across telephone lines. That lack of imagination cost them billions.
