Fantastic value and an amazing collection of titles - if you already own some of them though, it might not be worth it. In any case, the Half-Life 2 games are fantastic shooters and some of the best games ever made, Team Fortress 2 is excellent multiplayer mayhem although the online community does have a pretty high skill level, and Portal is a just brilliant alround.

Risen
If you liked the Gothic series, you'll love this. It's an old school RPG; open ended, all about decisions and freedom, and it's just a little bit hardcore. The combat isn't terribly exciting, but it's a fairly good game. Not for everyone.

The Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion
My personal favourite game of all time. The auto-leveling of enemies is people's biggest problem with the title, as it kind of sucks some of the challenge of the game away, and at the same time kind of removes the feeling of progression somewhat. An amazing title that will blow you away if you can over look it's faults.

Fallout 3
Oblivion with guns. However, the burnt out world isn't nearly as fun to walk around in - the browns and greys eventually wear thin, and the quests just don't feel as varied as Oblivion's as most of the stories are fairly cliche. VATS is either a love, or hate, thing - if you like VATS, you'll love Fallout 3. Excellent DLC.

EVE Online
They let you grind you skills while you're not even playing - that's how long it takes to get anything done. It just felt boring and empty, to me.

Company of Heroes
A great WWII RTS game with some excellent changes to the normal forumla - all about how you use your troops, and can be a little punishing at times if you're not willing to learn to play the game as it was intended; this is not Starcraft.

Fallout 3 is fun. I played Company of Heroes demo and it was fun, if a little too fast-paced for me.

Oblivion with mods is really good (get FCOM convergance). The one thing i can´t stand in oblivion is the combat system (the recoil from blocks) and the stupid minigame when you try to open a lock.

edit: company of heroes is indeed a great game (better then dowII imho), but it doesnt suit everybody so try the demo first.

I played the demo or Risen and will definitely be buying it.

I enjoyed Fallout3 (I liked the VATS system).

Check out D2D's sale if you're looking at CoH. 5 bucks for CoH gold this week.

Thanks for the feed back. I found an Oblivion mod that removes the level scaling, so I should try that. Also found out why the ESRB changed Oblivion's rating from T to M. Such a stupid reason...

Edit, I also put Burnout Paradise and the Sims 3. Are those any good?

Risen - Pretty good so far.
The Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion (I've heard a lot of reviewer praise, and a lot of player criticism) - If you like generic 'RPGs' (Lots of killing stuff though)
Fallout 3 - Not even half as good as the old ones, not really an RPG, fun action game though.
EVE Online -I like it but as a powergamer I hate the design

Deus Ex was awesome as well.  Can't wait for Deus Ex 3.

Anyways, for The Orange Box, even if you don't play / want Half Life 2, Portal is an awesome game, albeit short.

Fallout 3 is ok but then again it sold well.

For Eve, expansions are free and its just $14.95 a month... If you can get friends to join ya its way better (Some of my friends that I hang out with play eve which helps). I recommend joining Militia ie Caldari! You could also join a corperation too but I think Militia is the best way to get ya goin. Always lots of people to talk to. You can get people to teach ya and also best way to get into fights right off the bat. Also Caldari is best militia at the moment. Expansion coming in Winter! Though the more skills you have the better, which makes eve easier to play and opens doors for ya. But yes it does take time. It a really big place and the possibilities are endless. I can understand people not liking eve if they had no friends in eve playing with them(yes it can get lonely). Fly what you can lose. and only fly stuff that your efficient at.

Only 2 other games that I can think of that your missing is Deus Ex 1 and Homeworld 1. Deus Ex you can get on Steam easily but you can look online for a copy. Homeworld you would have to hunt it down.

oblivion + mods is win, seriosuly there are wway to many mods to talk about the graphics mods are nice, the goblin mods fix what is broken in normal game and then there are plenty of full mods that re-do the classes leveling and many other things

Orange box hasbeen covered but its not just HL2 its also Portal (check out portal prelude "mod" for when your done if you like that one its a whole 2nd game thats more difficult) TF2 and CSS

 As a sidenote/suggestion check out Overlord1/2 good comical game that many people enjoy demos are on steam or if your in the space sim/ship combat check out X3: Terran Conflict (i warn you a steep learning curve on the game but once you get into it its almost as bad as an mmorpg in the time you'll put into it)

Definately worth $30 if you haven't played Half Life 2 yet. I don't like the episode expansions. They're well done, but so short that I would feel very ripped off if I paid full price for them. Portal is very fun too, but very short if you're a decent problem solver. Team Fortress 2 isn't my favorite game. I don't enjoy playing online with immature people or super elite pros who have mastered the art of video games. But that's all personal preference.

A great throwback RPG. I haven't fully explored it yet, but seems to be a fun game if you enjoy the style of game. I don't see many of these types released that are well done, and this one is a nice addition.

If you played and loved Morrowind, you're not going to like Oblivion very much. The more you loved it actually, the less you'll like Oblivion. It's a console-ified, dumbed down and overly simplified game that holds the hand of the player and walks them through the game giving out free candy, and seems to find ways to frustrate you without challenging you in the least. If it's for the 360, it's only worth getting on sale and wasting some time on you've never played an Elder Scrolls Game, since you won't realize what's missing. For the PC, there are enough mods to make the game worthwhile. The mods can't fix everything (ai problems, bland npc's, some of the hand holding), but a heavily modded Oblivion is a much better game and is worth playing for many hours.

This suffers from a lot of the same problems as Oblivion, but with a few less critical flaws. It does still suffer from a few of the same main complaints though; not enough variety in the NPC's, over used voice actors, only a half-interesting main quest, etc. I found it fun and more fun without mods than I expected, but the modding changed it from a decent game that would be soon shelved into one that I'll play for awhile.

Most of this game is fought in the forums. It's very beautiful but zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Sorry I nodded off there for a bit. It can be very boring. It's got a lot of different ideas, but again, I don't like playing with people who are obsessed, or the uber elite that must conquer all things in the virtual world. I'm a mix somewhere inbetween casual gamer and hardcore, and Eve isn't my style. That doesn't mean it's not yours though.

I liked this game at first, but after completing the campaigns and playing a bit of multiplayer I got bored with it. It's fun and worth a play through, but doesn't have much to offer imo once you've worked through the strategies and tactics.

A good game to waste time on that I like to pop in and play every now and then. Racing games seem to follow their own models. If you liked previous Burnouts then you'll like this one. If you haven't, this one isn't going to do anything to change your mind.

My girlfriend likes this game, but I haven't spent much time on it so I can't offer any opinion. It's not really my type of game.

Orange Box: Good value package. The gem in this is Portal. Hillarious mind boggling game.

Oblivion:  A bland game IMHO. Hated the way enemies scaled. Plus after a while, most locations tended to make me feel like i was just going through the same repetitive monster smashing...just that the monsters looked different. If you want a good action-RPG, try Enhanced Edition Witcher.

Fallout 3: Oblivion with guns. If you like Oblivion you will like this.

EVE Online: never played this. I tried playing the demo but i fell asleep so i gave it a pass.

Company of Heroes: Great game. But micromanaging he troops can get a bit crazy at times. But still fun.

Sims 3: Hmmmm....it's the Sims.It can be entertaining if your are in to these kinds of stuff...or it could be downright brain curdling boring....

Personally, I'm waiting for the release of Tropico 3 coming end of this month. I played the demo and loved it. Being an evil dicatator of a banana republic has never been such fun (except for the original Tropico)

Oblivion isn't like most games, where there are one or two mods that you need and the rest don't really matter. The vanilla game is very bland, repetitive, and flawed. It takes a bit to get it to the levels it should have been at release.

Go to the official Bethesda website and snoop around. There are several mod lists for you to sift through. www.TESNexus.com is the other big mod website, and was the most popular one when I was still very active in the community. You need WyreBash and Oblivion Mod Manager, and should learn how to use them effectively. It can be a bit intimidating, but start slow and keep going. You'll have 400 mods installed with 200 of them wrapped up in your bashed patch in no time. There are 100 mods I wouldn't even consider playing the game without, and I'm not exaggerating. The rest are just for fun and added things I enjoy in the game.
