Where is everyone?

The pool of people is decreasing continuously...what will happen with this game?

In about 2months, the number of players online was cut by half and there is no custom game, well 3-4, not a lot...

Sad...

I've been playing since release and have never had a single problem finding a game, I guess it's down to each person's personal experience.

It has been taking longer to get games started.

As for me, been away due to some stupid cold. Go figure. Sounds like H1N1, but it's starting to get better now, I can almost stay in front of the comp :D but I think I'll be 100% only by the end of the week, so till then, not staying behind the comp much, hence no DG.

And it's well known that when Castrol's away, nobody plays. Eheh.

I hope people start realize that DG is more fun than HoN.

I think many ppl feel the need to try it out but eventually they will get tired of it.

Did the player base die over the weekend?  I come back this Monday (today), there are no, and I mean not a single one, custom game up, and only 2 people in pantheon.   Perhaps I just hit it at a bad time...

Did you ever try HoN?

Most of avid demigod players I know had been moved to HoN, and none of them (including me) is willing to go back to Demigod.

Just seeing 4-5 custom games posted at any given time is a bit disappointing.  I think that at least some people (including myself) are waiting for the 1.2 patch before jumping back into multiplayer.  The 2 new demigods should liven up things a bit (I hope).

If you guys have any doubts about the activity just visit http://pantheon.demigodthegame.com/opengames.asp and check yourself.

Ofc Summer Holidays are over and people are waiting for 1.2 but I personally havent felt/seen a significant drop in players.

I tried it and it sucks. I can't understand that anyone can have fun with a game like that, its way too simple and boring.

Population is fairly stable in terms of not declining, but the numbers are erratic from night to night. . . If that makes any sense.  Some nights when I am on, there are only 1300 people logged in.  Same time next night and there are 2200 people logged in.  Seems to be no rythme or reason.

So true, I had alot of faith in demigod, I even convinced a handful of my friends to buy it, but now no one plays it and I felt bad they lost some $ on it.  Everyone knows majority of demigods playerbase migrated to HoN, the only people denying it are just hopeful die hard fanboys.  Two new demigods in upcoming patch won't save this game nor will it pull lost demigod players back to this game permanently from HoN

A game that constantly averages 1500 players online IS NOT DEAD OR GOING TO DIE. End of story. If you compare it to SC/WC3(DotA) than it is a very small amount - but so is every other RTS out there. I think this game averages more (or maybe the same) as RA3/CnC atm.

The same as basically any other RTS that has ever existed out there....With the exception of SC/WC3 (they dont count as normal RTS :P)

The decline of total games has really been a "soft" one. With v1.2 comming around and the 2 new DG's things are looking good.

Demigod could have really used new stuff (at least a few new items, or at the very least making some already existing items worth buying/taking) every 2 months or so.

Mods could revive the game, but we'll see when the patch actually arrives.

Yes, it's normal. I just wanted to point out that a decline is present. However, the drop from an average of 300 players in games in the beginning of July down to 150 now is a bit much I think.

Well its hard to say because we dont really have any figures on how activity on other RTS games are like - so is this drop large, or small?

Hard to say :)

most of those people rn't playing though... i think about 1200 ppl just leave demigod running 24/7 whether they play or not.  Was on last night.. went through games.asp.. 1400 ppl online, however 107 were in game, in pantheon que waiting, or custom games waiting.  And it was impossible to find a game (maybe that's because all 1293 just didnt want to join my game or pantheon.. but ya..)

I'm calling bullshit on that number. 1400 players and only 24 games going.... yea right.

Stardock claims those numbers are right. They say a player counts as online if they started Demigod and logged in there and respond to a ping request every 30 seconds. Nevertheless, the discrepancy between players online and players actually playing is very odd, yes.

There is a reason the difference between numbers of players online and games in progress are so different. Demigod is not a normal RTS - in that 1v1's basically never take place, and each game last much longer than an average RTS game. If 1v1's were viable then the number of games that would be played would go up by 6 fold (the average game is 3v3, which in other RTS games is 1v1, and then there are the 4v4's and 5v5's which scale up to the 2v2's and 3v3's other RTS games have).

Basically - Games take a while to get started, and are very large (compared to other RTS's).

You misread my and Nubby's post ;). The discrepancy between players online and players in games is odd. There is no discrepancy between players in games and games in progress (overall average of 5 players per game).

I took a break and was waiting for the new demigods. Plus, I'm afraid to admint, I got into the HoN beta and I've been playing that a bunch
