Heaven's Wrath = Noobs?

So, I was playing a game with one of the top ranked people in DG today (I won't say his name because IMO he acted like a baby) and this was the situation. I'm curious as to how/why someone would get upset and wondering if I can get some insight here.

I'm playing as Reg and I use heaven's wrath on the first wave of creep.  He tells me if I do that again, he's leaving. (I presume because he didn't get experiance from it).  My teammate says to only do H.W. when the creep are next to your teammate.  Fine, fair enough.

So next wave of creep come and I use heaven's wrath when the creep are right on top of both of us, and he emoquits.

What was wrong in this situation?  we're talking about the 3rd wave of creep and he leaves.  Should I not use H.W. on creep at all?  He was right next to me and I used it on creep hitting me, so he should have gotten experiance from it.

Was I in the wrong here? or was he just acting like my 4 yr old niece?

You were wrong. You should only heavens wrath creeps waves that no one on your team could possibly attack, and if you are both attacking creeps its totally worthless and a waist of a wrath.

Dont steal experience from teammates. The only instance i think its fine, is if your teammates attacking another demigod and killing the creeps around him can tip the scale of engagement in his favor.

maybe you did wrong but his emoquit was B-shit !

If you're both standing on the creeps then you split exp the same way you would have if you'd just killed them normally, so that shouldn't have been an issue other than it's a waste of a fairly long cooldown.

Most of the time people start a game by nuking both creep waves and depriving the rest of exp it's a bad sign though.

The reason I did the second one is because I was killing the tower and didn't want the creep hitting on me while I did so.    Thats why I don't understand it.  We both would have gotten XP I believe

It's one of those unwritten rules, but his baby rage quit was dumb, however......you are stealing XP away from your team mates by using it, therefore preventing them from leveling.

As reg, you should be using it on top of your snipe (400 + 250 is half most peoples starting health), and when the team mate is locked in a 1-1 (but wait until their are creeps too)

;o)

It's obvious what your HUGE problem is Mad, you did not play perfectly; you did not know the EXACT way the rule mechanics work, and you did NOT play the way he would have played.  Lower your head in shame and feel guilt for making such a horrible, world altering, end of the world, mistake.

Seriously, you can play on my team any time you want, and spam that ability to your hearts content.  Just try not to play with people that make a game their life; their blood; their self esteeme.

Yeah, I hate it when I'm killing towers, and creeps hit on me. Amber Alert!

You would have both gotten xp, but only you got gold.  You also wasted a powerful item on killing weak creeps that your teammate could have easily killed.  It is about the equivalent to Hammer Slamming creeps early on (Later on, it can be necessary).

That said, There really isn't any excuse for him quitting.  A mistake by a teammate, that isn't on the 'you just whiped the team' that early is just not enough to justify a rage quit of any calibre. It'd be like ragequitting when your sedna player doesn't buy monks right away.

Are you sure you get gold for killing creeps?  I've had games where I get like 3x as many creep kills as anyone else (yay Heaven's Wrath), and I'm pretty sure I'm not getting extra gold from it.  Just keeps ticking at 2 gold per second or whatever the value is.

I love to use Heaven's Wrath when I play reg (imo the only dg who should ever really get it anyway).  But.. I don't use it every cd.  I used to use it in the other lane while i was killing creeps in my lane for double xp.. but ya.. ur teammates dont liek that ;)

Times to use Heaven's Wrath as Reg:

1.  Extra dmg on snipe.  I've gotten so many fcking kills from wrath on top of snipe that otherwise wouldn't have been kills.

- Can't do this if you wasted it on creeps for no reason.  Good reason to save it.

2.  If you're solo in a lane and attacking a tower with a fresh creep wave all attacking you.  No xp stolen from anyone, and

minimizes your dmg while allowing you to continue doing more important work - killing the tower.

3.  If a lane is abandoned due to you or teammate shopping or capping mid.  Great time to use it :)

4.  To see someone in the fog so you can snipe them.  Another thing that has gotten me several kills.  "Shit snipe was on cd

and now I can't see them" sucks.  Use wrath where you think they are to catch a glimpse and you have a split second to

target them for snipe.  AWESOME :D

5.  To get an assist on a kill.  Let's say you can't snipe the guy before he's going to die, or it's already on cd... great time to

wrath just to get a piece of the action and get that assist gold.  Try not to steal the kill though as you could miss getting

an assist at all (plus people don't really like kill stealers but who fckin cares? You're reg.. you snipe.. and you steal kills

XD)

Getting assists on kills (or getting the kill) is probably the main reason I use it and like it.

As for "stealing" a kill, other than the achievements that are broken anyway, your stats dont reflect kills beyond the game your in for accumulating favor points.  I'll take someone "stealing" my kill anyday if it means we are that much closer to victory.

This.  Gold is pretty damn precious at the beginning of the game.

you have to make sure ur team mate on the other side tags each mob with an attack before u heavens wrath.

If there are 2 lanes with a dg in each and reg decides to kill the creeps on my side where I can't get experience for them and spare the ones on his for he can farm, I get a little pissed.  If we are together and reg uses heaven's wrath on us for creep management, I start to wonder about his skill level.  It's not that big a deal though.  If I'm a reg and I've chosen heaven's wrath, I'd typically save it for a kill or some additional damage with snipe and the occassional farming if there are no useful targets available.

Heaven's wrath is not a noob only item, just be considerate of your teammates so they can level up.

Heavens wrath is dangerous toy :D:D:D. Ofcourse top ranked players put their heart in the game. And seeing someone wasting creeps with heavens wrath next to enemy portal where no one gets gold for it, it is quite and issue

Need to ask you what map was it, 2v2 or 3v3?
If it was Crucible with one vawe of creeps i would be pretty angry myself, specialy if he went Erebus or sedna with no AOE damage, For those characters it takes longer to level up.

I realize on small maps Heavens its only good till you get tracking device. Good players on level 10 and beyond regenerate hp fastert then you cast heavens anyway, so it is not good end game item. Blade of the serpent seems to be better - u can stay in Angelic form all the time, spam mines and mark of bettreyer as much as you want. And you always have mana for snipes.

So if it was crucible 2v2 taking heavens wrath would be quite noobish move.

i only have a 49% win ratio, but personally i've never thought much about using HW on creeps, especially where their paths cross, but nonetheless, it is by far not just a noobish item.  It doesn't help in endgame, but it makes a HUGE difference in early-mid, which then often determines endgame.  a 10lv reg will beat a 7-8lv UB ( depending on the builds and players, but u get the idea).

this has been very interesting.

btw, i think mard's hammer (+40 atk & +%atk spd) is another great item for reg, who has exceptionally low dps.

Ive played with friend who would wrath the creeps indescriminatly and deny us exp and its not cool at all. I do like to use wrath with reg, since he has no AoE till late game but it's best use is with snipe for early game kills.

Denying team mates exp and gold hurts you as well as them. Blasting an empty lane, though no gold is given i don't mind someone doing, its no one would have got so why not.

I must admit I get pretty annoyed when a team mate uses HW when im using BoTS and relying on minions to recharge my mana.

I had a situation the other day that got me pissed off at a teamate that was using HW. The map was cateract and I was on the right with a beast and the TB was on the left by himself. He kept using HW to kill the creeps on our side. I was telling him to stop since he was stealing XP, but he argued that we got XP when he did that (which is true). But what he didn't realize is the XP is split amongst the three of us, not two but our enemies were splitting their kills 2 ways so they were leveling up faster then us. At the end he said we lost because he was playing with noobs, and was too blind to see that he crippled us on the right.

Ahh sounds like he was being a pussy, nothing more, nothing less.  :)

When you Heavens Wrath creeps you always get the gold...no? (havent played in ages so cant remember)

AFAIK, it's still so that as long as a hero gets the last hit, he gets the gold, no matter if anyone else did the required damage to get gold previously.

Thanks for the replies folks.  I guess when I play in a "pro" game, I'll make sure not to H.W. creep.

However, I still don't think I was wrong in the 2nd use of my H.W. in this scenario.  No enemy players in snipe range, I was killing a tower, the teamate was right next to me, and I killed creep that was hitting both of us.  Maybe could I have used H.W. on to get a kill within the next 45 seconds?  Perhaps... but the ability for me to put another 1-1.5k dmg on the tower was worth it imo.

Either, thanks for the thoughts and helping to shed some insight.
